Google pays seven-figure bonuses to 4 top execs

Four of Google Inc.'s top executives each received 2008 bonuses of more than $1.2 million for helping the Internet search leader eke out modest earnings growth during a recession that battered much of corporate America.

The Mountain View-based company's market value plunged by about $120 billion, or 56 percent last year, reflecting concerns that the weakening economy will eviscerate the online advertising market that generates virtually all of Google's revenue.

Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt gave investors little hope Tuesday. Speaking at a technology conference, Schmidt described the conditions in the economy as "dire" and predicted things were unlikely to improve until 2010.

And how much did AP work on making Google successful, huh? Is this not Google's business? Liberals have a special love of breaking the 10th Commandment.

They most likely are getting what they voted for. This mess could start to turn with a quarter with the right leadership and stimulus actions (and I don’t mean gov spending either).

Last I looked, Google is highly profitable.

I don’t care for the politics of the founders, but what they pay themselves and their executives is none of my business. It’s up to them, their BOD, and their shareholders to decide.

>> Why is this even public information?

Because they are a publicly traded company, and information on executive compensation is information investors should know.

What Google pays its employees is no one’s business but the shareholders.

Unlike GM, Chrysler and a large number of US banks, Google is not a government agency. What it pays its executives is at the sole discretion of its shareholders.
