Stock Markets are up on China news. Only bad thing oil has gone up to 44.01

There is are two prophecies current among Orthodox Christians that the present circumstances bring to mind: first the prophecy that in the days of Antichrist all of Christ’s miracles will be duplicated, except that the dead will not be raised. (The prophecy is phrased that way, not that the Antichrist will duplicate Christ’s miracles, simply that in his day, they will be reporduced.) And the prophecy of St. Paisus of the Holy Mountain that because of the millions of martyrs Russia offered under the Bolshevik Yoke, alone among the nations of the world, Russia will not fall under the dominion of Antichrist. (This echoes St. Seraphim of Sarov’s century-plus earlier remark that “Antichrist will tremble at mention of the Russian Tsar.”)
Still the Fathers tell us not to think too much about the endtimes, but to attend to our own repentence.

Now it’s all ‘let the dead bury the dead’, for ‘we’re all socialists now’, and ‘better that the Chinese rather than the Arabs’ should own America.
America’s new infatuation with socialism may well be the one that establishes Orwell’s fictional Oceania.
