Extinquishing Physician Conscience
American Thinker ^ | March 3, 2009 | Dr. Mary Davenport

Imagine that it is 2016, and you are a 65 year old boomer. You have been admitted to your local community hospital with malaise, fatigue, vomiting and cloudy mental status. You have had blood pressure problems and diabetes for a few years, and have just been diagnosed with renal failure. As you drift in and out of consciousness, you are vaguely aware your old family practice physician, who had taken care of you for 20 years, is not around. A religious man, he quietly retired from medical practice in 2014, after the full force of the Obama administration‘s removal of conscience protection for physicians in February, 2009, came into effect.

You feel vaguely uncomfortable as you are placed in a darkened room in the Comfort Care wing of the hospital. In moments of lucidity, you wonder if you shouldn't have some oxygen, an IV or SOMETHING! But the appropriate therapy, kidney dialysis, is not on the approved list of treatments for patients over 65, having been deemed too expensive. The new regulations from the Department of Health and Human Services were presented just last month to your hospital's Futile Care Committee. It was decided at the highest levels that for those over 65 years of age, renal dialysis would not be a beneficial treatment, that the alternatives of a kidney transplant were too expensive, and that your quality of life on chronic dialysis would be too diminished.

Feh. Imagine a country of armed-to-the-gills geezers with nothing left to lose. The situation will resolve itself sooner rather than later.

Gonna give new meaning to the phrase “Do not go gentle into that good night”.

the baby boom generation that is use to getting everything they want are going to be in for a rude awakening if Obama and the dems get their way with health care. They will find out that if they are really sick, they will only get the care to keep them adequately comfy while they die but won’t get any other type of care to keep costs down.

A frightening but very probable scenario if this administration is not stopped!

The Boomers who put 0bama in office will be the first to be put down like dogs under zero’s healthcare.

The best part is that most will believe that they died for the "common good." Wait, is this such a bad thing?

Cross your fingers and HOPE and PRAY that the Pubes get their act together and take over the HOUSE and SENATE (or at least win enough seats to cause gridlock) to stop BaCOCK cold in his tracks and make him a one term president that makes Jimmy Carter look like a successful politician.

Marxism ( i.e. Socialism ) considers them "Useless eaters." They're expendable - "For the sake of the greater good."

Welcome to Obomaworld.

Remember Logan’s Run???

The solution will be to set an upper age limit and summarily remove them from existance to prevent such a occurance...

Look, all I’m saying is if I’m 65 and you tell me that I’m dead anyway, then I’m going to become an agent of change.

Just a little correction....there are a lot of us nearly “geezerettes” who never had an easy life. We have worked 60 hour weeks just to make a living. We know how to do without and how to make it on almost nothing. And we are not about to stand by and let the Dems kill us off. We know how to fight and especially how to win. A reminder to all on this site who want to talk down the “geezers”, one blink and YOU are there.
