GOP chief apologizes for Limbaugh remarks

WASHINGTON - Two days after calling conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh a mere "entertainer" with an "incendiary" talk show, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele apologized and acknowledged him as a "national conservative leader." "To the extent that my remarks helped the Democrats in Washington to take the focus, even for one minute, off of their irresponsible expansion of government, I truly apologize," Steele said late Monday. Steele's statement capped a remarkable weekend of awkward sparring between Republican officials and Limbaugh, who has repeatedly voiced his desire that President Barack Obama's economic policies fail.

“I am sorry that I got caught.” That’s what it feels like.

Yes, he does.

Sometimes people who ought to know better obviously don’t.

Resigning would be nice.

A screwup of this magnitude this early in the game is fatal. Jerkface will fade into insignificance. He just doesn’t have the watts to keep up with Rush, starting so far behind.

Good riddance, racist Steele.

What he said could have been written by a Democratic Strategist.

Liked him as a candidate in Maryland but cannot stand him so far as RNC Chair. He is on TV more than Howard Dean was. Does not bode well.

Those quotes from him will be featured in screaming ads from the marxist party throughout the 2010 campaign.

A colossal mistake. So can he recover our confidence?

For me yes. But it will mean taking on the socialist democRats head on and not backing down.
And it will mean taking on the RINO’s and not backing down.

If he is truly sincere for his mistake he will make up doing the things i outlined above.
He has about one year to turn things around in the GOP..

Mr. Steele, your resignation is required.

Wonder if the phone lines and email is back to normal at RNC yet?

Mr. Steele, if your vision of the R party is “Demo-Lite”, then you may as well cue the fat lady...

On the job one month and everyone is ready to throw him under the bus? Incredible!

With that approach we might just need to give up now because nobody is going to agree. And divided we fall.

I was just as quick to criticize him yesterday as everyone else. But he was mislead into answering a bad question by a liberal media hack and knew his mistake almost immediately.
And the MSM got the reaction they wanted from us.

If we throw out Steele now, the MSM wins.

I watched him being interviewed by a comic (DL Hughley) the other night and I was embarrased again for our party. What a loser. And they were high fiving each other because they were black. Now I am certainly not a racist, but I was uncomfortable with the whole idea that the GOP only appointed him as our leader because he was black. Come on give me a break. Our party can do much better than this guy! He couldnt even compete with a comic in a debate and rolled over. He needs to be replaced with somebody that has our parties principles first (whatever those may be now), and can at least debate the issues.

If the GOP is so fixated on selecting a “black guy” as its leader, may I suggest Alan Keyes.
