I’d vote A too, but there are no candidate A and B here. There will be candidates who are both SocCons and small government Conservatives. I prefer the whole deal.

Yet another steel-spined republican hoping to avoid the wrath of the MSM by denouncing Reagan and conservatism. Smart, Tim. Very smart.

One potential candidate for the presidency states that a day doesn't pass that she doesn't think about Ronald Reagan; that he remains an inspiration to her.

Sarah Palin 2012

Everyone said Palin was Reagan in skirts, I think she had a long way before she could fill those shoes.

Another ostensible “Conservative” bites the dust.

Still, he is merely echoing Newt Gingrich who said the same thing a few months back.

It’s voices such as Gingrich, Pawlenty, Brownback, and a host of others within the Republican Party that are “stuck in the 1990’s.” They want their perks back — largely minus their principles.

Conservatives take an opposite philosophical position. Tim, Newt, Sam, make your choice....

This moderate clap trap is the flavor of the day, and deadly to the Republican Party. Pawlenty and all the other PC polluted, establishment types have a short time to realize that the Republican Party will win when social conservatives lead it, and set the agenda. When social conservatives are pushed to the back by the Washington elites, the Republican Party loses. I give you the epitome of Rockefeller Republicanism, John McCain. We lost in 2006 because moderates tried to reach out with amnesty, and we lost in 2008, because we ran someone who made a career of reaching across the aisle to the wrong people. Conservatives need the Republican Party as a tool to win in 2010 and 2012, and the dimwitted elites better get in the game, or suffer the consequences. That’s not a threat, just a prediction based on past experience.

I know someone has had to say this already: I’ve heard Pawlenty out of Pawlenty.

You can't be IMHO a social Conservative and a small Government Conservative. If you say you banned TRANS Fat from food (Mike Hucklebe did) that is the government getting involved with a choice of FREE PEOPLE.

Personally, I'm pro-life, but what right should I tell someone they can't have an ABORTION. Again, that is the GOVERNMENT getting involved.

In terms of gay marriage they should have the rights, but the word marriage IMHO should be for a man and a wife.

This is another surrender, Republican officeholders are exhausted from the pounding of the MSM/DNC/Hollywood/Academia, War Room.

And I cannot blame them, they are desperate for a modicum of fairness from the MSM (our only mass outlet for a message).

So they pathetically beg for good press....thru capitulation.

It's time to drag some off the battlefield altogether, and others just need to be stepped over and left behind.

They are as good as dead.

So in your words you would be for Government intervention?

what right should I tell someone they can't have an ABORTION. Again, that is the GOVERNMENT getting involved.

What right should government... anyone... have to tell someone they can't murder their toddlers for screaming, or shoot your neighbor in the back of the head?

You are confusing small government with pure nihilist anarchy.

“Why should you BIG GOVERNMENT CONSERVATIVES (aka SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES) lead the REPUBLICAN PARTY?? I am going to fight BIG GOVERNMENT be it from the RIGHT or the LEFT. I want small government - the government that is in the constitution, not what bible thumpers want the government to be.”

Your hate is going to get you the exact opposite of what you want. Bible thumpers don’t want big, nanny state government. Most bible thumpers are like myself, wanting a small federal government that answers to the states, and not the other way around. Go thump on that for awhile.

You are right...and in a way so is Pawlenty. No matter what the disaster or catastrophe that this country has faced, it has bever gone back to something that existed before.

My point was that I want to take back our country from the socialists AND take it back to the original intent of the Constitution.

Simply that there are basic tennets that are no long operable.

In the context of the Constitution and the Bill or Rights, name one.

You are being obtuse. I was talking about some tenets of Reaganism, two of which I mentioned, not the Constitution. Like it or not, the government of this nation, no matter who was in power, has always been trying to tear down or push back the constraints placed on it by the Constitution. It is what government does and what government has been incrementally successful at since the Constitution was ratified.

Illegal immigrants will receive amnesty long before 2012 so it will no longer be an issue for her.
