In the daily disassembly of America which the new Caesar calls transformational change, the latest development is the surrender of Europe.
Word of that came yesterday with a report that the ruling junta in Washington is willing to abandon a missile-defense system intended to protect Europe from Russian nukes.
The word from Russia is that the United States has recently offered to bag the missile-defense umbrella if Russia will defuse the Iranian nuclear-weapon program. As anyone who has ever played Stratego will tell you, swapping Iran for Europe is a pretty good trade.
Here's the background.
About 15 years ago, the Soviet Union collapsed. It was pushed into ruin by Ronald Reagan and the superiority of the system of freedom and capitalism found in the United States. Ultimately, the Soviet Union a wholly Russian empire spent more than it had and crumbled inward because it went broke.
That was good news.
But nobody with any brains thought that was the end. A people conditioned to empire and conquest don't abandon the lust for territory and power easily. And that left the ageless problem of Who's going to try to conquer Europe this week?
The odds-on favorite: Russia.
Proof of that fact is that all those little oddly named countries of Eastern Europe have been begging and pleading for membership in NATO. Those folks spent most of the 20th Century under the communist Russian boot and they didn't want any more of it. So they asked for help. They asked for American protection.
Which is where the nuclear shield comes in.
As long as Russia has a nuclear club, it is going to be expansionist and arrogant as it looks at its former vassal states. Places like Poland and Ukraine are worried that Russian tanks are going to roll in the streets and another lifetime of oppression will come.
So we came up with the interceptor shield. We worked on a technology that would detect and destroy any Russian nukes fired at Eastern Europe. That sounds like a good thing, and it is. But it is also a game changer. It rejiggers the equilibrium of power.
All of a sudden, Russia's bull is a steer.
All a sudden, everybody from France to Georgia is breathing a whole lot easier.
And that ticks the Russians off.
Under President Bush, we didn't care if the Russians were ticked off. Under Caesar Obama, we care quite a bit.
So we're capitulating.
We have offered our best bargaining chip. Russia has been selling Iran much of what it needs to be a thorn in our side most notably technology. To keep it from meddling anymore, and to get its cooperation in inspecting the Iranian nuke program, the new Caesar has offered to break apart and destroy the missile-interception system,
Of course, that leaves all the Eastern European countries who cozied up to us on the outside looking in. Countries that six months ago built their foreign policies on the promise of American protection against aggression from Russia, will now be essentially helpless.
We have handed Europe to the Russians. We have made that historic continent the slave of Russian nukes.
And we have hurt ourselves, because at the end of the day we don't give two hoots about Europe. The missile shields up over these countries were specifically intended to harass the Russians. We wanted to keep them in their place over there so that they wouldn't think of coming over here.
You understood that, right?
We have maintained a military presence in Europe since World War II, and been a part of NATO, because we wanted an expansionist Russia to get bogged down in Europe. If Russian ever decided to war against us, its attacks westward would be challenged by our hardy allies. Our strategic plan is for Europe to be a delaying action, in the event of a big war, while the United States armed and mobilized.
So a strong and defended Europe means a strong and defended United States.
But the new Caesar is going to change that.
He is surrendering a technological advantage with significant and strategic implications. Simply put, he is going to leave Eastern Europe defenseless against nuclear attack by the Russians. He is buying good will for himself at the cost of their safety and security.
And he's tying it up with Iran.
Instead of standing up to Iran, he is bribing its partner. American progress with Iran will come not as the result of American strength or diplomacy, but as the result of capitulation to Iran's evil former friend.
We will seem to buy time with Iran, and we will surrender strategic supremacy in Europe to the Russians.
Which is a good way to lose World War III.
And a sadly predictable selling out of America's interests by the new Caesar
Lonsberry would have a lot more credibility if he actually got the facts right. The purpose of the VERY SMALL missile defense system is to protect Europe from missiles from rogue states like Iran and North Korea. It would be immediately overwhelmed by a full-out nuclear assault by the Russians.
Bambi doesn’t play chess.
Zactly what I was going to say. The Russians are laughing themselves silly because they have no intention of honoring this deal. On top of that, every other international actor is looking at how easy ‘Bama can be rolled (tide). Sorry for the weak a$$ pun.
It took a moment to get it.
Bambi may well get us all killed!
He really is a freshman negotiator, no ?
When we surrendered Europe?

Some would say long before that....

I hope more realise this before it is too late.

I do... the day I believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy again.
I'll believe it the day Obama comes out and tell us that he is a COMMUNIST!!
I’m surprised you got it at all. It was pretty bad. Glad no Bama boys are on this thread or they might take offense at using their school to make a joke about Obama.
I call on customers in Dixie.
this guy is a real idiot.
