How about a third option, ignore them. Every time a Republican either embraces or disavows Limbaugh, two people win - Rush Limbaugh and Barack Obama. It's great for Limbaugh's wallet and it's even better for Obama's political strategy.
So, for the third or fourth day in a row (frankly, I've lost count) Republicans are talking about Rush Limbaugh rather than Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid or Barack Obama. This is a losing strategy for the GOP (and conservatives) and are WINNING strategy for Barack Obama and the DNC.
What's wrong with Limbaugh earning a living?
What's wrong with speaking out against a president who's trying to silence discussion and whose party is even now trying to figure out how to stamp out free expression?

You must be listening to a different station than I am. It's not a losing strategy to talk about free speech in concrete as opposed to theoretical terms--people need to see specific, real examples of how Obama is trying to silence dissent.
Obama isn't winning because of this, he's winning because he's a new president and people are waiting for the other shoe to drop. I seem to recall Reid and Pelosi being criticized for years. Didn't seem to stop them. You think suddenly people are going to say "Yeah, that Reid and Pelosi, how about them?" With the exception of Gingrich no modern party leader in congress has ever been the focal point of the general public's interest. Most people don't know who they are, or can't quite place why they're famous.
The Limbaugh thing isn't a winning strategy for the Dems. They are attempting to divide and conquer, starting with the most visible public non-governmental face of the GOP. They will move on once they've destroyed him. At what point will we say "OK, THIS one is important enough to fight for!"? When the personal destruction starts getting to Congressional members? Too late then, the Dems will have written the storyline, and people will say "OH, I see, this is a pattern..."
We have to write the storyline. Tossing Limbaugh to the dogs because we're jealous that he's a rich commentator is suicide, not because I care about him per se, but because he is one part of a larger strategy. If we refuse to see the larger picture, we're sunk. The dems are banking on responses like yours, I'm afraid.
P.S. If you believe this, why on Earth would you suggest "Ignore them" as a strategy?
Bush tried that it didn't work for him.
Thank you, thank you. Well said... this is not the fight we should be engaged in.. all it is doing is taking the focus off the real fight, keeping the demonrats from destroying this country and freedom as we know it. This is a stupid highschool he said/she said arguement... get off it already and put the focus back on these MF’s who are trying to run this country into the ground for their ultimate POWER and CONTROL grab. This is psychological warfare 101... and we are falling for it, hook, line and sinker!
