Presidential Approval Numbers and What They Are Telling Us.
Rasmussent Reports ^ | 2 Mar 09 | Rasmussen

President Obama this week continued his effort to spend the country out of recession with his first speech to Congress outlining where he wants to go and his first budget showing how he plans to pay for it.

Three major policy goals are at the top of the president’s list – health care reform, development of new sources of energy and ensuring that every child has “a complete and competitive education.” Despite the spending on this and the various bailout and stimulus packages he has announced to date, Obama also promises to cut the federal deficit in half in four years.

Americans say cutting the deficit is the more important of those goals and also the least likely to be achieved. Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters, in fact, say the president is unlikely to achieve his pledge to cut the federal deficit in half within four years.

One of the ways Obma plans to reach that goal is to let President Bush’s tax cuts on those earning more than $250,000 per year expire in 2010. While voters generally frown on tax increases, 51% say his plan to raise taxes on wealthy Americans would be good for the economy.

Obama in his speech also put Vice President Joseph Biden in charge of watching over how the public’s money is spent on the various administration efforts, but 50% of Americans are not confident the money will be wisely and carefully spent.

With so much new government spending, many taxpayers expecting refunds are worried the government will run out of money before paying up.

Presidents numbers are at 60 approve 40 disapprove. Gallup has it at 63 to 25. The key is the numbers of disapprove which seems to be rising rapidly. The approval numbers will begin to go down naturally as the new begins to wear off. My prediction is when he is at 50/50, you will begin to see a huge change of tone (more negativity) just like in the campaign.

Hopefully the increase in negativity leads us to where we are ultimately heading. A break-up of the U.S., with the liberty loving states forming one nation, and the commie loving states forming another.

As for me, I’ll be in Texas.

I thought Texas was supposed to get gobbled back up my Mexico per the Russian professor that said the USA would split up in the next 20 years or so. I think I may go to Nebraska just to play it safe.

Obama is out to socialize health care at all costs. This is the way they will stamp out capitalism. His mission is to destroy capitalism and get rid of free enterprise and the stock market.

Well he is definitely not doing a bad job of destroying capitalism if the Dow Jones is any barometer.

The big question is what will the military and State National Guards do when it starts to come apart?

I will be in my own personal “Galt Gulch”.

The Tea party numbers are more revealing and will be in the future than any poll.

“The big question is what will the military and State National Guards do when it starts to come apart?”

Good question. I think the Iowa State Guard already tipped their hand with the exercise they had planned in Iowa (invading town, looking for “gun dealers”, no GWOT application) in which you could replace gun dealers with gun owners to get the true intent.

Politicians have been putting Education on a pedastal for the last 20 years and we still have kids who dont or wont learn.

Its time we started getting some bang for our Education buck, stop feeding money to people who arent producing and they will start producing.

What you write makes much more sense than just about anything I have read today on FR. I really think that is a great solution. Alas, I don’t see how it could happen.

Yes, and they'll ration healthcare to cull the old and the weak.

Oh, after they've seized control of the 401(k)'s.

I've come to this conclusion as I've seen The Messiah's definition of "compassion."

Guess they do not figure it applies to them in the long run. Then the full time military disarms them. Etc, etc.

Through health care they will control every aspect of your life. Oh you can not do this or that! Might raise health care cost to the taxpayers. I can hear it now. They will have you living in a padded cell in a rubber suit. Absolutly no fun allowed. Hell I would rather be in a loose bannana republic.
