Did Steele compromise his conservatism, or just demonstrate a lack of political finesse?

I would say he did both.

If it's the later, then maybe people need to give the guy a chance to get his hands on the reins.

As someone who's been around for a while now, and as someone who is now a "leader" in the republican party, he should by now know how to choose his words. Methinks that he was trying to diminish Rush and he's now paying a little penalty. I don't buy that he "just chose the wrong words", or he was misconstrued, or he "made a mistake". He, Mr Steele, knew quite well what he was saying when he said it.

As for Rush Limbaugh, I'm sure I'll continue find his show entertaining, and actually agree with what he says from time to time.

Rush's value is not as an entertainer. His value is something that is apparently beyond your understanding. Either that or you're trying to diminish Rush in the same fashion as Michael Steele attempted to do.

But until he can demonstrate the ability to do something other than a radio broadcast, I'm sure I won't be one of his "followers".

I'm pretty sure that Rush and his "followers" can make do without a detractor. His value is far more important than that of Michael Steele. If you can't see or understand his value to republicans, then you very obviously don't understand what conservatism is all about.

I would agree that the clock is always "ticking" for Steele; I'm sure he knows that.

LOL! I'm quite certain that Rush can do very well with or without his detractors, because

1. He doesn't need a certain number of votes to keep his job.

and

2. He makes LOTS of $$$ by selling ad space on radio internet, and other venues

As for his loyal "followers", I would strongly suggest they spend as much, or more time personally studying the Constitution, History, Economics, and a myriad of other subjects as they do just listening to his show.
