Just some random notes (mostly paraphrased):

Steele called Rush's comments "ugly" and "incendiary." Said he was just "an entertainer."

Rush said "he (Steele) took the bait from the drive-bys, "even though the premise was false." So, Rush tells Steele, "If it's your position that you want a left-wing President and Congress to succeed, you have some explaining to do!"

Why, Mr. Steele, Rush asked, "are you leading the Republican Party?"

Everyday, Rush and every other radio host he knows, get dozens of press releases from the RNC attacking the Democratic agenda, but when when it comes to voicing those same views on TV, they wimp out.

He told Steele, if he wants to lead the party, he needs to run for, and win, the Presidency. Right now, Steele is head of the RNC, not the Party, and his job is to revamp the primary system; and shore up the grassroots. That's how you lead, "Not by how entertaining and cute you are on TV."

Rush says, right now, he'd be embarrassed to be chairman of the RNC, because he'd "be presiding over a failure."

He also talked about how important it is never to betray someone who's helped you along the way, and of how he helped Steele, when he was a candidate, by having him on the show, and by slamming the defamatory Dem attacks on Steele. Rush wants to know, if he's so "ugly" and "incendiary," why he gets constant requests from Republican politicians to be on his show, or to espouse their causes?

Good stuff, but there was much more, and Steele and the RNC deserves every bit of it.

I didn't think Rush would address Steele directly, but these are critical times, calling for more than lip-service to a Party that shows no loyalty to its membership, while it never fails to ask them for money.

Great summary. I just want to add that he also informed Steele that the real leader of the Republican Party will be the next President and that it is NOT Michael Steele.

For the record, I really wanted Blackwell as the head of the RNC.
