Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele By: Jonathan Martin March 2, 2009 12:07 PM EST
On the same night he was offering the keynote address to the Conservative Political Action Conference, Rush Limbaugh drew criticism from an unlikely source: Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.
In a little-noticed interview Saturday night, Steele dismissed Limbaugh as an entertainer whose show is incendiary and ugly.
Steeles criticism makes him the highest-ranking Republican to pick a fight with the popular and polarizing conservative talk show host.
But the new RNC chairmans extraordinary comments wont sit well with the millions of conservative listeners Limbaugh draws each week, and Steele aides scrambled to limit the damage Monday morning by trying to change the subject.
Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats know they lose an argument with the Republican Party on substance so they are building straw men to attack and distract, said RNC spokesman Alex Conant.
The feud between radio host Rush Limbaugh and Rahm Emanuel makes great political theater, but it is a sideshow to the important work going on in Washington. RNC Chairman Michael Steele and elected Republicans are focused on fighting for reform and winning elections. The Democrats problem is that the American people are growing skeptical of the massive government spending being pushed by Congressional leaders like Nancy Pelosi.
Limbaugh, asked to respond, said hed save his counter-attack for his listeners.
Ill handle it on the radio, he wrote in an e-mail.
In an interview on CNN with D.L. Hughley, Steele assured that he, not Limbaugh, was in charge of the party before saying that he wanted to put the right-wing talker into context.
Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer, Steele said. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes its incendiary, yes its ugly.

It may take a new 3rd party made-up of true and dedicated conservatives. It appears that the current make-up of the GOP has too many people that are moderates or centrists and thus losers. If that is to be the Republican Party then the Democrats will be in power for a long, long time.
This is the end of the Republican inside-the-Beltway, MSM-loving Party.
Hopefully the TEA PARTY will be the replacement.
See tagline...
I haven’t gotten there yet, but this Hughley guy is an idiot. “The RNC looked like Nazi Germany!”
Well I think Rush Limbaugh tries to be helpful to liberals and leftists by showing them where they are wrong. They might view it as incendiary and ugly and it seems that Michael Steele agrees with them.
Thats not me. But I had higher hopes for Steele. He's revealed himself to be a lightweight who confuses media spin with reality. Steele needs to toughen up and get a clue.
I have asked that question THREE TIMES on three different posts.
I never got an answer.
It appears that all the blabbing yammers don’t know either. They just like to blab and yammer.
At least you and I admit we don’t know and want answers.
My best regards.
Please, please, PLEASE don't give the GOP any of your money.
If they call your house, then tell them to take you off their phone lists & off their mailing lists, and hang up the phone on them.
Screw off.
Part of the reason Steele got elected was because Mike Duncan (Bush’s guy) was running against him.
There was a very articulate black Republican on Fox and Friends this morning. He runs a site called Hip Hop Republicans. He is obviously reaching out to minorities. I hope he is successful.

the libs would instantly link that name to the American (Know-Nothing) Party of the 1850’s.
Like the concept, but a different name is needed.
I still believe working within the Republican party, but we need a strong spokesperson that is on his toes and not trying to suck up to the left. He’s going to insult conservatives and Rush Limbaugh’s views and at the same time is trying to get blacks and others to come into the Republican party? He’s not much of a salesman so far.
Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer, Steele said. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes its incendiary, yes its ugly.
What a load of crap! I don’t listen to Rush to be ENTERTAINED! I listen to Rush because he has the balls to call a liberal, a liberal and a socialist, a socilist which expresses exactly how I feel... so if Steele finds the way I feel ENTERTAINING, he and the GOP can go F@<{ themselves!!! So, is it the Libertarians, Constitution Party. That American Party sounds good, hmmmm.
Let’s do stay home in 2010 like we did the last election. And let’s stay home in 2012 also. Obama’s second term will have to be better than his first. (sarcasm) The Democrats want a one-party nation, so let’s give it to them.
Rush’s last segment @1:50pm was closer to what I was trying to say earlier. That it’s Rahm and Obama that are driving this and a bit in jest and some not, he mentions that he is merely an ‘entertainer’ and that he doesn’t have to get votes or do the sausage work in congress, etc. etc.
And yeah, even if Steele meant to characterize what the Left believes ‘incindiary and ugly’ - he should know also that the left is going to spin it toward their purposes but they would also take every post here and do the same thing. That’s my original point. I hope you understand that.
The chairman of the Republican National Committee has shot down hopes by minority homosexual groups that the party will open its “big tent” to endorse “civil unions” or homosexual marriage.
“What would we do that for? What are you, crazy? No.” Michael Steele told radio talk show host Mike Gallagher.
No applause or appreciation, only apoplectic bitching?

You people are patsies! The Obama people must be laughin’ their asses off just watchin’ you swallow the bait.
Toss him out. What a pandering SOB
Thank you but it still does not answer the question: How are they “elected”? Who or what elects them?
Thank you.
