Nope, old Navy Pilot. Worked with lots of Marines through the years and admire their dedication to their mission and Country.
Really? I bet not more than 40% of American voters want such a thing.
“Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” was a Clinton creation. I haven’t seen a news article make that valid point in a decade.
Well, then you of all people should know that almost 10% of men who enlist in the U.S.M.C. fail to graduate boot camp...and if you don’t already know it, you know it now. We don’t tolerate “Marys” in the Corps...never have...never will...
I suggest you concern yourself about the Navy and let us do our job in the U.S.M.C.
“Anchors Away!”, Sailor
I hope you do. Watch the Bastards from the ACLU is all I’m saying.
Marines KNOW what the “score” is in boot camp and we KNOW how to deal with this Bravo Sierra.
Have a great day.

Grammar and spelling obsession is gay
No, it isn’t.I am tired of seeing subliteracy displayed or even applauded every single day. (Another example I see constantly : A “grizzly” murder in which a bear is neither the victim nor the perpetrator.) And no, being annoyed by rampant stupidity and semi literacy hardly makes me a lesbian!
... American voters may feel better about the idea of openly gay soldiers and sailors,...
And 'American voters may feel better' if they all got a free Pony too. But the 'American voters' aren't getting a Pony - only the bill for one - and 'American voters' don't have to go into battle with an openly gay 'Ben Dover'.
What baffles me in this whole conversation on 'Open Gays' in the military, is that one teeny fact is never brought up -- the Battle Field is now a HAZMAT Zone! Blood, guts, body fluids and parts are all over the damn place.
So who is going to risk their own life by being contaminated, infected and getting a slow death sentence imposed on themselves in trying to pull a wounded 'Ben Dover' out of the fire fight and behind cover? And what Medic is going to treat the wounded and possibly HIV infected 'Ben'?
I say no one. There'll be reasons given why they couldn't help him but in the end (no pun intended) Ben Dover will die where he lays. So changing the Open Gay policy will in effect be giving them a Death Sentence. When they eventually go into battle and engage in a firefight they will be on their own. And you couldn't restrict them from Combat Arms, like Women are, THAT would be discriminatory!
So Barry better tread lightly. This isn't some PC social engineering experiment we need now, or ever.
(and I don't give a crap what other countries do, like Israel)
One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction.
I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
Sincerly, Mitt Romney
This stunning statement from Romney apparently had not come to the attention of those at CPAC who voted him their favorite Conservative. Many will no doubt demand a recount.
I am amazed that it never comes up, at one of the debates Anderson Cooper could not get Romney to acknowledge his prior position or to renounce it, he just kept slipping and sliding as Cooper kept trying to pin him down.
The rest of the world is going to hell in a handbasket but you're focused on fellow Freeper's perfection?
Gay, gay, totally gay
Vets & servicemen: Is the above (nobody likes it) true?
“Testing positive for HIV leads to an automatic medical discharge of the servicemember. One does not have to be a homosexual to be infected by HIV as any person with a high school education should be able to know.”
Once it is detected they are discharged but how frequently do you think people are tested for it in the military, at induction, every few years maybe?
Since the military does an almost perfect job of keeping out junkies, and the hetero military is going to have clean, sore free genitalia and good immune systems, then that leaves homos and their anal sex and other diseases as the HIV Trojan horse, as any one with a high school education should be able to know.
In the military intimacy in some types of units can be beyond what a civilian can imagine as a lifestyle, it is those very units that also have the most blood rich environments, not only during war but even during peacetime, those type units are incredibly physical and coarse and they live, train, and fight in incredibly coarse settings.
People that move miles in pitch dark through deep forests at night scratching and cutting themselves and gouging their hands as they feel their way through the detritus with out seeing, and when they sleep make it mandatory that each member of the team has to be in body contact with each other, are living pretty intimately.
All I can say when I was in the Navy Gay was ok, if you were a really good swimmer.
