Tune in March 2:

Former Tennessee senator and presidential candidate Fred Thompson will launch his nationwide radio talk show on March 2, opening with 125 stations, according to the Westwood One syndicate.

The show will air from noon-2 p.m. Monday through Friday opposite Rush Limbaugh, though some stations may delay the broadcast to later in the day. The only Tennessee station signed up thus far is WWTN 99.7 FM in Nashville.

Thompson gave up his role as the district attorney on television’s Law & Order in order to run for president.

I was wondering what he’s been up to. I did see him do a cameo on a TV show called Life On Mars this week. He played a New York cop opposite Harvey Keitel. Not the best casting, with that drawl, but he did OK.

Well, we have talk radio pretty well covered, Fred, especially in that particular time spot (cough, cough, Limbaugh, cough).

You have some good skills Fred - why not apply them where we aren't covered? Like in the mainstream media? TV? Films! That's where we're weak.

I'm quite sure that you have great things to say, especially regarding federalism. But the country needs a balanced effort - across multiple fronts - to turn things around.

In my area, WJR - Detroit, AM 760, ABC, we have Rush from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Then Sean from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm, then Mitch for an hour or so. Then evening news, when I move to the TV screen. That said, I always have it in the background while I do my real work, anyhow.

Just a thought...

Too bad Fred is on at the same time as Rush. While I like Fred, I like Rush more. Sorry, Fred.

Suggestion to Fred, try 10:00 am until Noon, Eastern time.

Then I can listen to all four favorites. Just a thought.

I think his problem was that in order to win the primary, he had to fight other republicans and he was more interested in going after liberals,

You are probably right about that, but I don't think he convinced voters that he even wanted to go after liberals. He just did not have the fire. I'm sorry to say that, since he is a solid conservative and an impressive, articulate, clear headed, down to earth guy. He was my choice for the nominee, but did he ever get creamed!

It was the wrong venue for Fred. He could be absolutely great on low-key, late night television. I can see it now...

Fox Proudly Presents "Night on the Right" with Fred Thompson.

“Fox Proudly Presents “Night on the Right” with Fred Thompson.”

It would be a lot better than “Huckabee.”

Oh come on, Cialis ads are a lot better than "Huckabee." (Disclosure: I have never seen the Huckabee show, but I have seen Huckabee, and if he is on that show...)

I’d heard something about low ratings but have also read that his show was in the top ten and profitable. He says that his working hours have increased too much and that he doesn’t want the TV show to suffer.

More opportunity for someone else who needs a job.

Why would he want to nader-raid Rush’s audience? I like Fred, in fact much prefer his delivery to Rush’s, but I can’t see Fred doing anything positive for conservatism (or his own ratings) by competing with Rush Limbaugh.
An evening show would be much better. In fact, Fred is a late-night talker, sorta like a conscience. :)
