Probably won't see this one again anytime soon! When they took US Air's Flight 1549 out of the Hudson they ended up having to detour through East Rutherford, NJ. These roads were not made for planes.
And the fun part is, if you fly on an airline from one of the less affluent countries in the world you may one day hvae a chance to ride on this aircraft yourself!
I assume that was tongue-in-cheek cause this will be chopped up after the investigation is complete.
Slide #4 shows the airfoil shape at the wing root. I looks like it was sawed off quite neatly and there is lots of camber on the bottom, as though it's a tailplane (which produces down-force).
I'd love to know more detail about the steering mechanism on that 12 axle lowboy.
I’ll believe that when I see it.
Even if they do chop the airframe, which they are not required to do and given US Airways’ financial state I somehow doubt they will do, the avionics, hydraulics and I strongly suspect most intact airframe components will find their way to the market and into an airliner near you.
The only valuable part of the aircraft were those two engines that were basically destroyed after injesting mulitple geese. The avionics would be second, however, they were submerged in water for a few days and are now worthless. The airframe is the cheapest part of any aircraft and I would be very surprised to see anything from it on the market.
