“Sometimes the obsession for control of the climate got a bit out of hand, as in the Aztec state, where the local scientific/religious establishment of the year 1500 had long since announced that the debate was over and that at least 20,000 human sacrifices a year were needed to keep the sun moving, the rain falling, and to stop climate change.”

Al Gore’s ancestor was probably at the top of the pyramid killing sacrifices, screaming “The debate is over!”

Since most of the greenhouse effect for the earth is due to water vapor and clouds, added CO2 must substantially increase water’s contribution to lead to the frightening scenarios that are bandied about. The buzz word here is that there is “positive feedback.” With each passing year, experimental observations further undermine the claim of a large positive feedback from water. In fact, observations suggest that the feedback is close to zero and may even be negative. That is, water vapor and clouds may actually diminish the already small global warming expected from CO2, not amplify it.

This is the part non scientists don't tend to understand and the part that global warming alarmists hope you can't understand.

Avid Coug you stopped your excerpt one sentence short.

The widespread dissatisfaction of the people who were unfortunate enough to be the source of these sacrifices played an important part in the success of the Spanish conquest of Mexico.

Policies have consequences.

What pisses me off is that I had to search high and low to get this transcript in non pdf form and not a lot of excerpts, yet if Al Gore had addressed this committee on the same day for the same length of time, we’d have the whole damn bucket of drivel all over the MSM and NOBODY can place Gore on anywhere near the level of intellect, credentials on the issue, or scientific achievement as Dr. Happer.

True, Neverdem, but I didn’t want to create false hopes.

The whole hockey-stick episode reminds me of the motto of Orwell’s Ministry of Information in the novel “1984:” “He who controls the present, controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.”

Dr. Happer is quite quotable dont you think?

I really hate to rain on anyone's parade here folks.....but........ this Professor's opinion doesn't matter one bit, and his testimony is meaningless to those who are pushing "planet warming" down our throats.

It's all about "cap and trade", which is about taxing something called energy usage of big business, which means big revenue to the federal government, and according to those who are in charge now; global warming is $ for real.

Speaking of the Romans, then invading Scotland in the year 83, the great Scottish chieftain Calgacus is quoted as saying “They make a desert and call it peace.” If you have the power to stifle dissent, you can indeed create the illusion of peace or consensus. The Romans have made impressive inroads into climate science. Certainly, it is a bit unnerving to read statements of Dr. James Hansen in the Congressional Record that climate skeptics are guilty of “high crimes against humanity and nature.”

There is no such thing as a tax on business. All that happens is that the price of their product goes up to cover the tax or they go under.

When the price of the product goes up, the consumer pays. Take electricity for example. Production of electricity produces lots of CO2. Tax that CO2 and your utility bill will rise to cover it and them some more because profits are a percentage of revenue.

Now this is a very regressive tax. Power is maybe 2% of my annual budget. If it doubles, I tighten my belt somewhere else, conserve a little, and life goes on. Poor people, and especially the elderly pay a much higher percentage of their income to the power company, and when the price goes up they are really hurt. The tax has taken a nibble out of my lifestyle, but has hurt my grandfather a lot.

Thank you, Hussein Obama.
