I was on Twitter and there were many liberals spewing comments about how Rush was “scary” or how it was frightening to think that his message portrayed Conservatives’ actual beliefs. Their happy world of change, unicorns and rainbows was threatened by the idea of freedom and (true) personal responsibility. The rest of the comments centered around insults about his physical appearance and calling him an idiot. Others complained that they couldn’t understand why cable networks would even give him the airtime. They were riled up and it was fun to see.
This seems to be the nature of a lot of liberal posts. Vulgar, ad hominem attacks which I believe are designed to drive away thoughtful posters. Based on some junk emails I have gotten, I suspect that there are those who are paid to post mindless rants to multiple message boards.
The message I took away from his speech is that we are in for a long and difficult battle, and that Liberty is at stake - but that with intelligence, passion, focus, conviction, and yes, good humor - we can win.
I hope many of you out there feel the same way.
