ALL RIGHT, Sarah! You GO, girl. The Fed.gov stopped ARCO (Atlantic Richfield Company), the company that DISCOVERED the North Slope oil fields, from building a gas pipeline, 30 long years ago!

There was no pipeline built to carry the Alaskan gas south because the cost of the pipeline made the gas to expensive to compete with the lower 48 gas that was abundent and cheap. The Alaskan gas was stranded.

In the 1990s it was thought that using gas to generate electricity would outstrip the lower 48 supply and drive price up, opening the door for gas imported from Alaska and around the world.

The first NG shortage began in 2000 and caused significant problems in 2001 and 2002.

Palin has got the gas pipeline deal so screwed up many are saying that the Alaska gas is going to be stranded for another 25 years.
