She is still unrefined. I think she will only get better.
I think it was a fine idea by McCain to pick her, but I would have advised her to say NO. She really was a tad inexperienced for such a jump, and hitching her wagon to McCain was a shame.
I think she would have been better off giving a keynote at the convention, like Obama did in 2004, and then waiting for an opportunity to run herself. Being a VP or VP candidate pays off very little for Presidential aspirants. A winning VP rarely becomes elected POTUS. And I can’t think of a losing VP candidate that was successful in reaching the Presdiency, either.
So, I think that is where she screwed up. But I think she may have the political skill to reassemble her image. Besides, the campaign for 2012 doesn’t begin for at least another month or two. :-)
