Bush's lip curling and facial tics were the source of the cartoons, as with his tendency for verbal gaffes and humorous neologisms ("strategery"). Haven't heard any direct information on the diagnosis. His mother talked about some kind of reading issue, as a child.

Liberals did not complain much when Bush was likened to a chimp in political cartoons. Maybe that's the difference.

There are all sorts of levels of ticcing. Most folks have mild ones that surface when they are stressed or tired, usually an eyelid. Kids who are on Ritalin or other stimulants for ADD sometimes tend to tic (and ought to be taken off the meds if they do).

But de la Tourette's is major-league, disruptive, disabling ticcing, usually accompanied by repetitive body movements and uncontrollable outbursts.

I've seen absolutely no sign of it in President Bush, and I think it's irresponsible to throw that accusation around.

According to Wikipedia, "Strategery" was first used in a Saturday Night Live impression of Bush, but it's interesting that you thought Bush actually created the term. I always thought Rush Limbaugh created it.

More like not at all. 'Chimpy' was a favorite Left Wing epithet for George W. Bush.
