I thought Gottlieb Daimler also had something to do with it. Am I wrong?

Daimler invented the ten-cent piece. It’s not widely known, but Karl Benz was also the inventor of the auto accident, where it was once remarked “that’s the way the Mercedes Benz” after he wrapped his invention around a tree.
