Jindal isn't toast. Bill Clinton's national debut speech at the 1988 Democratic convention in Atlanta (nominating Michael Dukakis) was considered so bad and boring that it was thought to be a "career killer". And he went on to become president.

And he went on to become president." That's a great point. I forgot completely about that speech. And apparently, so did most of America by 1992.
I think the speech did far more damage to the GOP (in lost opportunity costs) than it did to Jindal in the long run. The GOP really dropped the ball.

Still, a critical missed oppty. The Republic didn't hang in threat of collapse in 1988, though.
