It drives me *crazy* the way he swings his head back and forth. It’s an affectation — brought on by being so teleprompter dependent — that has gotten very old very quickly.
I am waiting for Nancy to jump him or fall over and knock him down with all that repaeted standing up and applauding.
Yes, it seems so. How can anyone be known as a great speaker if he never looks at his main audience? Odd.
A minute or two ago, I thought Nancy Pelosi was going to clap herself out of her sack dress. Scary thought.
He can’t look straight because there is no teleprompter in front. They are located to his right and left. Haven’t you ever heard Obama speak without one? His speech is full of “Look”, “er”, “uh”, etc. He is a very talented teleprompter reader. Watch his eyes as he reads.
I just know he’s one creepy SOB. I thought it was a pop-culture hip-hop thing.
Clinton just bugged, this guy scares me. I think he will literally become as much of a dictator as he can accomplish.
Just has to throw in that bit about ‘inheriting the budget’. He turns my stomach.
Perhaps his handlers are telling him not to? Actors are often told to never look directly into the camera (and he is, after all, an actor). Just sayn ;-)
Isn’t it possible to place a teleprompter down front? I think I’ve seen them in that position before.
You wouldn’t want The One to look right at you. The brilliance, the sheer overflowing goodness of him would burst your heart. < /chris matthews >
Actors are trying to maintain the illusion of a self-contained world on stage or on the sound-stage. Obama’s the President of the nation and is trying to talk to all of us. Big difference, seems to me.
Put a damn teleprompter in the middle so he can look straight ahead.
Would it make my leg tingle too?
I never have, he acts like if he does, he will be proven the fraud that he his.
(heh) And we should keep our eyes averted, too, so as not to appear to confront his Supreme Eminence...
And they put them higher in the air than most speakers. That way he looks godly....gazing out over the endless throng of faithful followers.
Basically, looking down his nose at those beneath him.
Yes, noticed. In fact I made the unfortunate mistake of making my drinking game “every time he switches teleprompters”. I’m already toast.
Yes, I think it’s a decision that’s been made, not to use that teleprompter in front. Why? So he can seem to be posing, gazing into the future, and we can admire his profile?
