"The Obama Numbers Game"

Send to a Friend

Now that the economic stimulus bill has passed, how can you do your part to stimulate the economy and be sure the worst is behind us? Two important things –

Play our game while watching or listening to the Presidential address tonight. President Obama will deliver his first prime-time speech to Congress tonight at 9 pm Eastern Time.

Take your $13 / week tax rebate check and book your next vacation today! Play our game, use promotion code 13OFF, and get $13 off* your next flight, each way. It’s OUR economic stimulus offer for the people. *Additional taxes and fees apply. Click here for more offer details.

What you need to play:

A piece of paper and a pen or pencil to keep score – or a really good memory. A tv, radio, PDA or cell phone so you can tune into the President’s televised speech at 9 pm Eastern Time on all major networks and cable news channels.

How to play the game:

Watch tonight’s speech and listen closely for the following catch phrases and keywords. Keep track of them, tally your points, and reward yourself with a getaway trip with the coupon in this email! Good luck!

Whenever any positive words or phrases are mentioned during the President’s address, ADD one (1) point. The following are examples:

“Yes We Can” Mandate from the people Hope / hopeful Confidence / confident Optimism / optimistic Economy / economic Stability / stable Growth Recovery Cut or slash spending Stimulus package Bipartisan Free trade Abraham Lincoln “A more perfect union” Stock market improving Fiscal or corporate responsibility Wall Street and Main Street

Whenever any negative words or phrases are mentioned, SUBTRACT one (1) point. The following are examples:

Challenge Crisis Catastrophe Deficit Recession Depression Nationalization of banks Federal government takeover Weak or ailing economy Mortgage crisis Foreclosures

Whenever any of the following is mentioned, ADD BONUS points: No tax increases of any kind are mentioned. (add 10 points) A full economic recovery is expected or promised by the end of 2009. (add 20 points) The Treasury Department has completed a detailed economic recovery plan. (add 100 points)

Whenever any of the following is mentioned, SUBTRACT BONUS points:

The statement is made that, “things will get worse before they get better”. (subtract 5 points) The state of the economy is compared to the Great Depression. (subtract 10 points) What to do after the game:

Take a look at your final score, and think about the rest of the year. Here’s our suggested interpretation:

51 or more The economy is fixed. Go to the Caribbean on vacation now! Also now is the time to buy a house; they will never be cheaper.

26 to 50 The economy is improving. Take a trip to Florida in March. Also buy a new car; there are great deals out there!

10 to 25 The economy will start to rebound by March. Fly to the Bahamas now! Flights are cheap!

0 to 9 The economy is rebounding in Spring. Fly to Myrtle Beach now for a quick getaway.

-1 to -10 The economy will be fixed shortly so go to Orlando before hotel rates go up again.

-11 to -25 It’s a lot better than you thought it was before today. Still better take advantage of Spirit’s $13 coupon for a great deal.

-26 to -50 You may want to save more. Join the $9 Fare Club for discounts on all future flights!

Under –50 You really need to fly Spirit exclusively so you always save.

Received this in my email today... found it disturbing to say the least. I don't like thinking about Obama when making airline reservations or vacation plans (bad omen feelings). Maybe most who received this in their emails today will be playing this "Obama Numbers Game" instead of listening to his speech tonight. (Maybe that's Spirit Airline's cynical plan!)

Why would I listen to this moron long enough to play that game?

And if I were going to listen to an actual President........why would I play games doing it?

Want to know just how much the $1.197 trillion stimulus bill really is?

It is nearly twice the amount of the combined exports of the six major Middle Eastern oil producers.

Saudi Arabia: $204 billion
UAE: $137 billion
Iran: $65 billion
Kuwait: $56 billion
Qatar: $33 billion
Iraq: $32 billion
Total: $527 billion

$1.197 trillion/$587 billion = 2.2
