Electrolyzed water cleans, degreases -- and treats athlete's foot. The solution is replacing toxic chemicals.
It's a kitchen degreaser. It's a window cleaner. It kills athlete's foot. Oh, and you can drink it.
Sounds like the old "Saturday Night Live" gag for Shimmer, the faux floor polish plugged by Gilda Radner. But the elixir is real. It has been approved by U.S. regulators. And it's starting to replace the toxic chemicals Americans use at home and on the job.
The stuff is a simple mixture of table salt and tap water whose ions have been scrambled with an electric current. Researchers have dubbed it electrolyzed water -- hardly as catchy as Mr. Clean. But at the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica, some hotel workers are calling it el liquido milagroso -- the miracle liquid.

Yup, and did you know that there is a video of a car that runs on water? And there really was a carburetor that got 80 mpg, but the oil companies squashed it (killed the guy w/ the water car too!).
And then there is my copper bracelet, which cures cancer and arthritis. Don’t forget my Zango / Mangosteen juice, which a real doctor claims cures everything that ails you.
(/sarcasm)
Don’t forget the “Bass-o-Matic”.
"Electrolyzed" water is water that has gone under electrolysis which is the decomposition into 02 and H2. It seems who ever made this stuff stole the word because it sounded cool.
Sodium ions are converted into sodium hydroxide, an alkaline liquid that cleans and degreases like detergent, but without the scrubbing bubbles.
Had this whold Mr. Clean discussion with a freind early this morning.
Mr. Clean has been around since I was a kid (almost half a century) and I have never used it but picked some Lemony Mr. Clean up today after my discussion with my bud.
I want some!

“As is explained above, these electrolysis devices produce what amounts to a dilute solution of sodium hypochlorite, similar to what can be obtained by diluting some ordinary laundry bleach such as Chlorox to the point at which the odor is no longer noticeable. If this is made slightly acidic (by addition of some vinegar or lemon juice, for example), then most of the hypochlorite ion is in the form of hypochlorous acid, which is a bactericide and is the active product produced when chlorine is used to disinfect drinking water.”
Got this in an email. Some of the tips I have heard and used, others not - can’t vouch for them or their safety, but here it is:

Did you also know bleach was invented in the late 40’s?
It’s chlorine, Folks! And it was used to kill our
troops.
Peroxide was invented during WWI in the 20’s. It
was used to save and help cleanse the needs of our troops
and hospitals. Please think about this.
1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with
the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily,
then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe.) No more canker
sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive
pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep
them free of germs.
3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill
germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your
dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.
4 After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour
peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. I had fungus on my feet for years until I sprayed a
50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the
toes) every night and let dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to
ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen
gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was
healed by soaking in peroxide.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and
water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without
harming your septic system like bleach or most other
disinfectants will.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your
50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus. It
will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few
minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.
9 If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a
dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your
mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The
pain will lessen greatly.
10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair,
spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and
comb it through. You will not have the peroxide-burnt
blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural
highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty
blonde. It also lightens gradually, so it’s not a
drastic change.
11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid
boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to
a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is
blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let
it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water.
Repeat if necessary.
13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no
smearing, which is why I love it so much for this.
I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home
should be without! With prices of most necessities rising,
I’m glad there’s a way to save tons of money in such
a simple, healthy manner!
as long as it’s not made of that nasty dihydrogen monoxide! That’s toxic and was even used for torturing islamic terrorists! I wouldn’t want any of MY kids to go anywhere near that stuff!!!
peroxide is great, but should never Ever be used by diabetics.
Yes, chlorine was deadly and was used to kill our troops. So was hydrogen hydroxide. Anyone who has seen “Saving Private Ryan” knows that thousands of the men who landed at Normandy were killed by hydrogen hydroxide.
Hydrogen hydroxide kills men, women, and children every year. It’s the main component of acid raid, and raw sewage. And hydrogen hydroxide is actually used in abortion clinics.
AND hydrogen hydroxide is the main ingredient in the “peroxide” solutions that are being touted for all these “handy household hints.”
Why is that?
BTW: I know a case of a man with cancer who was using a quack remedy, consisting of a few drops of peroxide in water, which he would drink. He had a bottle in his refrigerator with a 40% solution of H2O2, which his brother thought was water, and drank. He died instantly. Must have been horrible.
One of the risks of quack cures.
Just as my email uses the scare of “CHLORINE!”, and your warning about the dangers of Hydrogen Hydroxide (both good warnings) - but I think the key is dilution and proper use. And proper labels on the bottles! Man - what a way to go.
as it was explained to me in non-technical terms, diabetics’ blood has an element of hydrogen peroxide to it already, especially if blood sugar is not controlled well - this does tissue/cellular damage. Adding external hydrogen peroxide to a wound increases the cellular damage, like adding fuel to a fire, and makes the wound much much worse.
