Sasol does have patents. This is not a serious obstacle however.

Having been around some I have heard that many times just before the deputy shows up with the papers.

Of course I recommend honoring Sasol’s patents. We can learn much from them. Overwhelmingly the technology is in the public domain however. Most of it is in use in US oil refineries to produce higher grade liquids from otherwise too heavy materials.

Using a coal only feedstock I think a joint venture with Sasol would appropriately save time and money.
