In the Declaration of Independence the founders were referring to a foreign government. Unfortunately now we face these same obstacles but with our own government.
Here’s hoping their brilliant system of checks and balances will help minimize the damage. But no guarantee and we are now a secular nation...the founders warned about government where God and religion were suppressed like the French Revolution in their day.

No, they were ALL British subjects and many had served in the British Army or been members of British colonial governments.

Not so foreign, just step children. We’re already considered by our public servants, er, RULERS as just so much dirt, cowardly dirt to be trampled on at will.

“In the Declaration of Independence the founders were referring to a foreign government....”
I view it as our government has been overthrown by a foreign invader thus making it the same situation our forefathers faced. Our form of government was based on God-fearing men that would do the right thing....NOT the den of thieves we have in DC today.
I, too, agree that we are on the very edge of an all-out insurrection. All it is going to take is the right spark. Maybe HR45? Or perhaps some other marxist move...whatever it is, God help us all.

No they weren’t! They were referring to their own government, the government of Great Britain. The Founders were colonials, and British subjects for the most part. Their revolution was against their own king and his government!
