Republican strategists have taken to examining Sams Club Voters like an anthropology project. Instead, they might try to gain a few insights from King of the Hill, the Fox animated series by Mike Judge (Office Space) and Greg Daniels (The Simpsons, The Office). They wouldnt have to be home when the show airs, or even record Hill on their TiVos: Many episodes, and clips thereof, are viewable on the Internet through Hulu and Adult Swim.
For 13 stellar seasons, Hank Hill has exemplified the working stiffs discomfort with new-age parenting, politically correct education, and liberal social values. The show is not only one of the greatest sitcoms ever it made Time magazines 100 Greatest TV Shows list but also the most meaningfully conservative television show of its generation.
Unfortunately, the Hank Hill era may be about to end: Fox has canceled the show, and is now running the last episodes.
People who dont watch King of the Hill tend to assume its another mockery of Middle America, unique only in that it pokes fun at suburban Texas rednecks instead of rubes in some other region. But thats not the case, and its not unusual for criticisms of Judge to come from misconceptions.

I'm sad to see it go, but 13 years is a mighty good run.
"Mmm-mmm dang ol' liberals, man."
We love King of the Hill.
I wish there was an edit post option. My all-time favorite King of the Hill scene was when Hank is driving through Arkansas and goes through Hope (I think) and there are signs saying “Hometown of Bill Clinton” and he reaches over and locks his car door. I LMAO.
King of the Hill fan here, especially of Bobby.
I have been a fan of the show and as a Texan, I’ve often got a big kick out of it. From the first episode, I thought, “That’s our neighborhood!”, to a large extent.
The only REAL complaint against the show is that real Texans use more wood (and some charcoal) to Barbeque, rather than propane. I loved the episode when Peggy ate Charcoal burgers instead of propane and convinced the family later the propane was better so as not to put down Hank.
(Bunch of dang-ol-tell-you-what, ol Kramer slidin’ in, Hilarious, man, show about dang ol’ nothin’).
I think there’s a little bit of all of us who are like the boys who drink Alamo beer in the alley.
Everyone from the south has a relative that talks just like Boomhauer.
“Ronald Reagan did not dye his hair! And if he did, it was only to intimidate the Russians! God I miss voting for that man.”
Hank Hill is my hero! (Not really for you humorless folks out there, but for a cartoon he is outstanding!)
great run
Although I’m not a big fan of the show, I always got a chuckle watching it. My brother-in-law speaks EXACTLY like Boomhauer, and he says he has never seen the show. It’s a hoot having him visit. :-)
I met an old man from Texas last year, and I could barely make out anything he said. I had to keep from cracking a smile because that kep popping in my head.
“Mmm-hmm, dang ol’ Hank, just causin’ that dang ol’ tear in the I tell ya’ what, just... cat’s in the cradle.. dang ‘ol”
*Sigh* “You and you’re guilt trips Boomhauer.”
It seems like most people we know are unfamiliar with the show, and if they have heard of it, assume it is a show similar to The Simpsons or Family Guy. Actually, we thought that too until we actually watched it.
Great show. Hank is such a sympathetic character.
One of the craziest things was when Boomhauer had his heart broken and went to talk to his Grandmother. He called her “dang ol’ mee maw” which is what my kids call their grandmother! I laughed myself silly watching that (the kids were a bit embarrassed).
“Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep themselves busy while their husbands did the cooking & cleaning.”
-Hank Hill
Great show!
Saw that one again just a few days back!
LOL, I like soccer, but even that quote cracked me up.
