CNBC Replays Its Reporter’s Tirade (NYT miffed at Santelli popularity)
New York Times ^ | February 22, 2009 | Brain Stelter

Posted on 02/23/2009 11:21:32 AM PST by Lorianne

Once upon a time, cable channels were embarrassed by on-air outbursts or other anchor antics. Now, some are glad to post the video clips on the Internet as quickly as possible to maximize publicity and Web traffic.

On Thursday, CNBC swiftly uploaded a televised rant by Rick Santelli about President Obama’s plans to address the housing crisis. By doing so, the network injected the reporter’s opinions publicly, and the widely replayed video clip even provoked a response from the White House the next day.

Mr. Santelli is normally a strait-laced newsman; he has reported live from the Chicago Board of Trade for 10 years. But in an appearance on the morning show “Squawk Box” on Thursday, he suggested a “Chicago Tea Party” to protest the administration’s housing plans.

They are really running scared. Now it's a 'tirade'.

They can't control information the way they used to. All they can do is misinform their (increasingly smaller)reading public about the way videos 'go viral' and make it seem like its propoganda by MSNBC, instead of millions of viewers making individual choices about where to get their information from multiple sources.

I would say they don't understand the internet and it's power ... but I think they do. And it scares the stuffing out of them.

According to this White House, WTF does a trader know? This White House is stocked full of brainiacs who were too brilliant to be a CEO in the private sector before becoming an Obamunist Cabinet member.

Zero - Jimmy Carter's 2nd Administration on steriods.

“They would rather replay an embarrassing segment ....... BRIAN STELTER “

That apparently makes sense to Brian.

Once upon a time, cable channels were embarrassed by on-air outbursts or other anchor antics.

I've honestly never watched a moment of it, but isn't there a show on PMSNBC where the anchor regularly rants, cries, spits, calls people "the worst in the world" and soils himself before crawling into a fetal position and mewing for Obama to bring him his binky?

I think his name is Oldermann? Oldbuffoon? Olbama? Something like that.

The star of the clip isn’t ONLY Santelli...

It’s the trader who leans over to Santelli at 1:25 and says this:

‘LET’S NOT PAY OUR MORTGAGE, I HEARD IT’S A MORAL HAZARD”.

That dude is PO’d as well. Gotta love honesty.

According to the NYT...“It’s tremendously important for people who rant on cable TV to be responsible and understand what it is they’re talking about,” Mr. Gibbs said. “I feel assured that Mr. Santelli doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Well in answer to that, Mr. Gibbs, READ the bill....if you would do that you will find that Mr. Santelli DOES know what he is talking about!!!

Are you afraid of someone that can speak up and rally the folks behind him....unlike your rag you say “reports the news fair.”

If Santelli was running the show instead of Picheee... They wouldn't be on the verge of Chapter 11, in fact they would be in the black!!!

When the Times agrees with a public outburst, it is invariably described as a "cri de coeur", an "authentic voice of protest", or a "heartfelt cry against injustice", or some such tripe. But when they disagree, it becomes a distasteful display of mindlessness; the inchoate grunting of Neanderthals.

Bout time to re-invigorate that Abu Grab story and run it for the 1millionth time above the fold on the front page. That ought to shut those biased reporters down.

By doing so, the network injected the reporter’s opinions publicly...

If that's not the great big pot calling the little kettle black...the NYT and other media has been doing this all along, only they've been too hypocritical to admit it( because it's "OK" for the left to propagandise). They're even more blatant about doing it these days, but they're still too hypocritical to come out and plainly admit what it plain for all to see.

New York Times identifies a HUGE Thought Crime and writes an entire snarky article about it. Dear Leader will be offended. Hope they enjoy themselves while Carlos Slim still allows them to write in English.
