Hahaha like the Federal Gov’t is going to allow a State’s Right such as this? Of course the only smarter thing California could do to raise revenue is to allow some drilling off the coast but, hey... one step at a time.

All the freepers sympathetic to the Pot Party (Libertarian) will applaud this. This could be the handbook on how to destroy a civilization though.

It’s about time.
How much money do we waste every year (since 1937) trying to keep Marijuana illegal?

I think this is a good move, and LONG overdue. Tax it, and control it, as you can only do if it's legal! Crippling gangs’ raison d’etre is a bonus!

Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, said the cash-starved state could generate more than a billion dollars by taxing pot growers and sellers. But still no drilling for oil.

This will devastate the economies of Mendocino, Trinity and Humboldt counties and it will cost a Billion dollars to bail them out. They could get five billion instantly by allowing drilling off shore...

About time. I’d love to know just hom much money has been wasted since 1937 attempting to keep it illegal. Pretty obvious how ineffective it’s been.

Not a user but, hey why not? It’s not going away.
People are touted as criminals in some cases.
And above all..... tax the hell out of them.
Of course the DEA might not want to give up their cut.

Are people seriously going to be buying government taxed pot? People would grow their own rather than pay taxes. Now the feds are going to arrest the people not for possessing the drug, but for not paying yet another tax.
