Gitmo Detainee Mohamed Released to UK (Obama order)
abcnews ^ | 2/23/09 | Jake Tapper

As we reported last week, the Obama administration transferred Guantanamo detainee Binyam Mohamed to British custody Sunday night. All terrorism-related charges against Mohamed were dropped in 2007.

Many military families called the White House about this Friday night, upset at the news.

Here's the official release (note that it comes from the Department of Justice, rather than from the Pentagon):

"UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"UNITED STATES TRANSFERS BINYAM MOHAMMED TO UNITED KINGDOM

"WASHINGTON – The Department of Justice today announced the transfer to the United Kingdom of Binyam Mohammed, an Ethiopian national and former resident of the United Kingdom who had been held at the Guantanamo detention facility since 2004.

"As directed by the Executive Order issued by President Obama on January 22, 2009, an interagency panel has reviewed Mohammed’s case and determined that his transfer, pursuant to an arrangement between the United States and the United Kingdom, is consistent with the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States and the interests of justice.

“'The friendship and assistance of the international community is vitally important as we work to close Guantanamo, and we greatly appreciate the efforts of the British government to work with us on the transfer of Binyam Mohammed,' said Attorney General Eric Holder.

"Mohammed is the first Guantanamo detainee to be transferred under the review of all Guantanamo detainees directed by the President. He departed Guantanamo aboard a United Kingdom aircraft Sunday night and arrived in the United Kingdom today."

How long before the same whining media starts blaming the United States for “daring” to release such dangerous prisoners on the poor innocent world?

To: Logical me

That is how I would close down Club Gitmo, with a mass execution of all the terrorists being held there.

My sentiments exactly! Why have to encounter the enemy twice due to a President who is working against you?

Terrorists, Cole bombers, murderers of Americans, Al Arabia, Al Qaeda, and this Gitmo Detainee Mohammed know
that their Mahdi is "Hussein in the White House".

Last week they reported that this terrorist was transferred last nite, several days in the future when they reported it?

Wow, they are good.

Katherine Herridge on Fox just reported that AG Holder is going to Guantanamo WITHOUT any media presence. Holder’s office says trip was planned at ‘last minute’ and logistics prevent taking media. Katherine Herridge apparently argued that she could join trip and report from a cell/media phone. No go.

What happened to Obama’s transparancy/openness promises???
This is what I asked when I called and emailed White House.
Sadly, for the very first time, I was concerned about sending an email to the White House....but did so anyway.

It's hard to tell from this article.

The UK is pretty much cowed by and at the mercy of the Islamic Culture, so most likely he will be free to organize and take part in more terrorist attacks as do a large percentage of those released from Gitmo.

It wouldn't be PC to do otherwize, not to mention it would be downright racist to punish this guy for being involved with terrorists fighting against freedom.

It’s amazing how he can make a decisions like this about a place he has never even been too. Even more I don’t even think he’s been to Afghanistan. I can see it now, this prisoner is now going to get an attorney and sue the UK and maybe even the US.

He has zero experience in national security issues, zero.

Holder’s office says trip was planned at ‘last minute’ and logistics prevent taking media.

I posted a thread announcing this last Wednesday and put it in breaking news

The mods took it out of breaking so fast that it got less than 300 views, but the next day put this one in breaking:

Holder To Visit Gitmo

It didn't get much attention as there were key items missing from the way it was posted.

It's interesting that the media is "breaking" this news today so that Holder can lie and say it is a last minute thing so no media can go along.

Free Republic outs Present Obama, terrorist supporter Holder and the MSM once again!
