Former defence minister says UFO proof 'irrefutable' (Canada's Paul Hellyer)
Globe and Mail ^ | 2/23/2008 | ROY MacGREGOR

'As far as I'm concerned, it's irrefutable."

Paul Hellyer is in his downtown Toronto office on a Saturday morning, just as he is the first five mornings of every week, still driven at 85 years of age.

He has been finishing up a book, his 13th, that is part memoir, and so he has been looking back on a remarkable career that once made him Canada's youngest member of Parliament, that took him to key cabinet posts in the governments of Lester Pearson and Pierre Trudeau and that had him run for the leadership of the two main national parties and even form his own political party.

Lately he has not been looking backward - but into the future.

A future in which humans will have to accept they are far from alone in this universe.

Hellyer's "irrefutable" evidence received a bit of pumping this past week. A Winnipeg group that tracks UFO sightings across Canada says 2008 produced a record number of sightings - 1,004 - a 25 per cent increase from the year before. Ontario and British Columbia were the hot spots, reporting 334 and 272, respectively, while Prince Edward Island had only two mysterious objects flying about, Nunavut one and Northwest Territories none.

It is important to point out that Hellyer didn't believe in UFO's until after he left the Defence Ministry.

And of course, he brings with him the enviable record of intellect and technical education available only to politicians.

He's been a true believer since 2005, when he stunned the cautious Canadian political world by announcing in a speech that, in his opinion, "UFOs are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head."

Fixed. This guy is a lunatic, BTW.

Personally I do believe in alien life. Unfortunately I have seen no irrefutable proof of it as of yet.

Given what our governments know, tell me again why we are spending billions of taxpayer money to find water on Mars to prove there might be life outside of earth?

pilot evidence is abundant but always refuted
find the “hoax” or “meterological anomalies” in these incidents

Maybe the government knows live off Earth has not been found. The Razor of Sir Henry of Ockham put to use maybe.

You make a good point- the money we spend on space probes, astronomy, SETI, and exobiology is surely wasted if “governmnet” knows we get visited by non-Terrans on a regular basis.

So that one realizes that Hellyer came to believe in UFO's as a private citizen and not as a Defence Ministry insider with access to actual Canadian government evidence.

Apparently it is unthinkable for any govt to make any official admission.

The best the USAF does (based on conversations with officers who have witnessed events) is to neither confirm not deny any public sighting

But it is getting harder to ignore and closer to having to happen

the implications are profound, both for the official admission - and for the decades of denials and obfuscation and secrecy- trust your govt now? just wait.

As far as I'm concerned, it's irrefutable.

So is proof of his dementia caused by Alzheimer's; although he was a liberal, which is proof of other pre-existing mental disorders right there.

“It is important to point out that Hellyer didn't believe in UFO’s until after he left the Defence Ministry.

Why?”

The point is: There was NOTHING learned in his duties as Defence Minister, to indicate UFOs were alien to Earth!

I certainly think that there are flying objects that we fail to identify :-)

"Ontario and British Columbia were the hot spots, reporting 334 and 272"

Both regions where there are high concentrations of left wing pot heads and partakers of other psychedelic drugs..

I don't actually know what the government knows but I think the answer to your question, assuming for the moment that some in government know that extraterrestrial or extradimensional life actually does exist, is that government is not monolithic and such knowledge is shared only on a need-to-know basis.

Therefore, some agencies not "in the loop" waste money trying to discover what is already known by others.

Or he felt able to speak of his belief only after he became a private citizen.

Most who are privy to secret nformationm are constrained from talking about even after leaving govt service

The typical way to silence people is to discredit them by mocking them. Decades ago careers could be ended as people branded psych cases on orders of their superiors.

I suspect most pilots just keep their mouths shut and their opinions to themselves. My father did (UFO encounter while flying fighter jet in 1950)
