Stop the CO2 Madness!
Canada Free Press ^ | February 22, 2009 | Alan Caruba

When The New York Times publishes a story, as it did on February 19, regarding the next step in the Obama administration’s intention to destroy the U.S. economy, it’s a very good idea to pay attention.

“E.P.A. Expected to Regulate Carbon Dioxide” was the headline of John M. Broder’s article. “The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to act for the first time to regulate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that scientists blame for the warming of the planet, according to top Obama administration officials.”

Those “top Obama administration officials” are unnamed and so too are the “scientists” claiming that the planet is “warming.” For the record, although you will never read this in The New York Times, the planet is NOT warming. It is COOLING. It has been cooling for a decade now and it is no secret to meteorologists who track the day to day temperatures or climatologists who study long term trends.

On March 8-10, more than 500 of those scientists who dispute the vast global warming hoax will meet in New York for a second international conference on climate change sponsored by The Heartland Institute, a non-profit, free market think tank.

Joining those scientists and others will be Vaclav Klaus, the president of the Czech Republic and current president of the European Union. Also participating will be Jose Maria Aznar, the former prime minister of Spain, along with American astronaut, Dr. Jack Schmitt, Richard Lindzen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and other leading scientists who have led the effort to shed the light of truth on the global warming hoax.

You can be sure of one thing. They will all continue to be attacked

Welcome

National Review ad promoting International Conference on Climate ChangeMore than 70 of the world’s elite scientists specializing in climate issues will confront the subject of global warming at the second annual International Conference on Climate Change in New York City March 8-10, 2009.

They will be joined by economists, legal experts, and other climate specialists calling attention to new research that contradicts claims that Earth’s moderate warming during the twentieth century primarily was man-made and has reached crisis proportions.

The conference expects to draw 1,000 attendees including private-sector business people, state and federal legislators and officials, policy analysts, media, and students.

Headliners among the 70-plus presenters will be:

  • American astronaut Dr. Jack Schmitt—the last living man to walk on the moon.
  • William Gray, Colorado State University, leading researcher into tropical weather patterns.
  • Richard Lindzen, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of the world’s leading experts in dynamic meteorology, especially planetary waves.
  • Stephen McIntyre, primary author of Climate Audit, a blog devoted to the analysis and discussion of climate data. He is a devastating critic of the temperature record of the past 1,000 years, particularly the work of Michael E. Mann, creator of the infamous “hockey stick” graph. That graph--thoroughly discredited in scientific circles--supposedly proved that mankind is responsible for a sharp increase in greenhouse gases.
  • Arthur Robinson, curator of a global warming petition signed by more than 32,000 American scientists, including more than 10,000 with doctorate degrees, rejecting the alarmist assertion that global warming has put the Earth in crisis and is caused primarily by mankind.
  • Willie Soon, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
  • Roy Spencer, University of Alabama at Huntsville, principal research scientist and team leader on NASA’s Aqua satellite.

The Heartland Institute, a 25-year-old national nonpartisan think-tank based in Chicago, said all of the event’s expenses will be covered by admission fees and individual and foundation donors to Heartland. No corporate dollars or sponsorships earmarked for the event were solicited or accepted.

There will be government efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, but don’t hold your breath.

Word from the influential democrat I met last Tuesday: expect a carbon tax of $60 per ton. Reduced payroll taxes will be used to compensate and spread the wealth around.

I’m still convinced these people are convusing “dioxide” with “monoxide”.

If they regulate “dioxide” - WE’LL HAVE TO STOP BREATHING.

Well, they’d probably like that with the supposed overpopulation problem that they’ve been harping on for forty years.

These idiots would ban dihydrous monoxide if they could.

It is often said that this is a gov’t of laws and not men, but this is nonsense.

It has always been the situation that gov’t must be by “men of goodwill.”

It is easy to imagine Nazi-like extermination camps for political dissidents being financed under programs with innocuous labels like “Experimental Carbon Dioxide Reduction Research,” which would of course be truthful portrayal of bureaucrats murdering people, who after all, DO produce CO2 that they don’t want!

“Don’t hold your breath” — heh heh...

to all, a quibble:

“American astronaut Dr. Jack Schmitt — the last living man to walk on the moon.”

That doesn’t make any sense. No dead men ever walked on the Moon (or anywhere else), and plenty of other moonwalkers are still around. Also, Gene Cernan was the last man to walk on the Moon, in that he got back into the lander *after* Schmitt. In good fun, they’ve argued about that one for years (because Schmitt sez he was the last man to walk on the Moon — he was the last one to set foot on the Moon, but Cernan was the last one to step off the surface and back up the ladder).

Reminds me of the scare papers that would go around about "Dihydrogen Monoxide" when the internet first was commercialized.

HISTORY LESSON HERE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE FORGOTTEN: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dihydrogen_monoxide_hoax

A great Joke that... (For those who don't know, the "harmful chemical" is water.)

Sadly it seems the new joke (CO2 - Carbon Dioxide) is being taken seriously by some. :(

Washington D.C. must be filled with idiots.

Just remember the information from here.

...

H2O: Dangerous Chemical!

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair, April 26. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide."

And for plenty of good reasons, since:

1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
2. it is a major component in acid rain
3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
4. accidental inhalation can kill you
5. it contributes to erosion
6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.

* Forty-three (43) said yes,
* six (6) were undecided,
* and only one (1) knew that the chemical was water.

The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?"

He feels the conclusion is obvious.

The War on Carbon (CO2) follows other wars through regulation and/or taxation... Another manufactured crisis, this time abusing science for political purposes, following in the footsteps of Cloward and Piven - Strategy for forcing political change through orchestrated crisis

I don't think that's true. I'm sure computer models attempt to do just that, model the earth's weather patterns, and that would certainly include night and day.

Having said that, they so far have failed!
Here's a comparison of the IPCC's "Projection" over the next 100 years to what has been observed so far.
IPCC vs Reality
If you can't hit the broad side of a barn at 25 feet, you aren't going to hit the target at 100 meters. Anyone who puts any stock into the IPCC's projections just isn't thinking!

They can’t even do the one test that is easiest to verify. Take any computer model and run it backwards and see if it matches up with historical weather patterns.
