Someone needs to write an email to Patrick McCreless that wrote this piece and challenge what he is advancing here:

“According to the Associated Press, state officials in Hawaii checked health department records during the campaign and determined there was no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii.

The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document. In addition, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama’s birth, including his parents’ address in Honolulu, that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961.”

Hawaii NEVER said Obama was born there....how DARE these media jerks play so fast and loose with the truth...this guy goes so far as to editorialize they said there is NO DOUBT Obama was born there. How irresponsible.

What Hawaii actually said:
>>On October 31, 2008, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, released a statement verifying that Barack Obama’s birth certificate was on file in their records. However, despite what you might have heard, she did not verify that he was born in Hawaii. And, she did not verify that the certificate on file in Hawaii matches the “COLB” pictured on Obama’s site and at FactCheck. <<

Additionally the Factcheck image—including the so-called seal is FORGED using 2007 graphic elements.

My Mac won’t bring up the McCreless’ email addy, someone please challenge this dishonesty.

Some reference:
From Hawaii’s official Department of Health, Vital Records webpage:

A. “Amended certificates of birth may be prepared and filed with the Department of Health, as provided by law, for 1) a person born in Hawaii who already has a birth certificate filed with the Department of Health or 2) a person born in a foreign country” (applies to adopted children).

B. A parent may register an in-state birth in lieu of certification by a hospital of birth under HRS 338-5.

C. Hawaiian law expressly provides for registration of out-of-state births under HRS 338-17.8. A foreign birth presumably would have been recorded by the American consular of the country of birth, and presumably that would be reflected on the Hawaiian birth certificate.

D. Hawaiian law, however, expressly acknowledges that its system is subject to error. See, for example, HRS 338-17.

E. Hawaiian law expressly provides for verification in lieu of certified copy of a birth certificate under HRS 338-14.3.

Here’s what I just sent the “intrepid” reporter:

Dear Patrick M.:

You need be careful with this if you are interested in maintaining your journalistic integrity.

The Hawaiian officials never said that Mr. Obama was born in their State. It never happened! They said he had a valid birth certificate. If you would spend some time researching the matter you would discover - as so many others have - that the two conditions can be mutually exclusive. Fact Check has completely ignored the same issues you have in your piece. HI has given out certificates of live birth in the past that they will not even accept as proof under all circumstances. And they have a good reasons for doing so - perhaps you should find out what they are.

Funny now none of you clever reporters have ever come up with his real long form BC, or can prove what hospital he was was born in, or can seem to get your hands on any of his college records!

Articles with flimsy research is one of the reasons for decline of print media. If we have to do our own research to get to the truth why

Another local resident asked Shelby if there was any truth to a rumor that appeared during the presidential campaign concerning Obama’s U.S. citizenship, or lack thereof.

“Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate,” Shelby said. “You have to be born in America to be president.”

According to the Associated Press, state officials in Hawaii checked health department records during the campaign and determined there was no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii.
