When guys lose jobs, the TV, den and gym win. Women? Sex? Not so much.

Bankers no longer buying bottle service? Laid-off construction workers unable to summon the swagger to whistle at a pretty girl?
Urban tales of the emasculating effects of unemployment in a society that still measures men by their bank accounts are perennial.
But that doesn't explain the recent media frenzy over Dating a Banker Anonymous (DABA) a blog where the female partners of Wall Street warriors ostensibly vent about how the economic meltdown has morphed their men into "emotional train wrecks," deflating their sex lives along with the Dow.
As co-founder Laney Crowell admits, the site was a "joke" in which the rants were in fact amped-up parodies, snookering readers because they echoed an emerging bit of conventional wisdom: that this recession is messing with men's heads.

Well, I’m glad to see that near-bankruptcy hasn’t skewed Newsweak’s ability to make shit up.

Were none of the laid-off bankers female? I spent some time at a well known north-eastern graduate school of business in the early- to mid- eighties, and I can tell you that if the MBA-to-be population of that school wasn't 50% women, it was pretty darn close to it. And that was 25 years ago!.
I'm glad Newsweek can see some humor in the misery caused by the banking meltdown. They found an angle. How clever they are. The angle? White males are getting theirs.

Why would anyone post anything from Newsweak?

Premier rag of America bashers seizes upon yet another opportunity to crow and offers snarky pabulum at a time of precipitous national decline.
