Fifty years ago that would NOT have been the most likely answer. Fifty years before that would have been yet another most likely answer. Prior to that there was another guessed at number. the ‘scientific’ number has absolutely NO stability to it whatsoever, yet in every case every number was staunchly defended by the scientists at the time to be right and certainly more right than the biblical estimate.
