OK, if this goes down, it will plain and simple be a disaster for the American economy, unless there is a massive nuclear plant construction program with streamlined approvals and permitting.
Anyone who thinks we can replace coal with fairies and pixie dust, aka solar, wind, and conservation, is just completely ignorant of the thermodynamic and economic realities, and needs to shut up and let informed educated adults handle the issue.
