'A new fund has been established at Notre Dame, under the auspices of the Center for Ethics and Culture, called The Notre Dame Fund to Protect Human Life. Its purpose is to support right-to-life activities at both the student and university levels. For purposes of this fund, the phrase "human life" solely concerns human life in its earliest stages, from conception to the early days of infancy. While the sanctity of human life ought to be protected in all stages, these beginning stages are particularly vulnerable ones in our contemporary culture and represent points at which human dignity and human life are subject to the most egregious attacks.
'The fund is an expendable fund, which means that money within the fund can be spent immediately as needed for purposes deemed worthwhile and within the scope of the purpose(s) and priorities of the fund. The official fund agreement is a part of the university's records and will be used as the guide for the committee to administer the funds in the future. The key provisions of that agreement are reproduced below.

Am I mistaken, or does it seem that Notre Dame is actually becoming more Catholic? It's as if they recently discovered they had legs and could walk against the wind.
Deo gratias.

The Jesuits haven’t changed. They’re still politically oriented and somewhat undisciplined. They answer only to the head of their order and not the pope like other clerics and orders do. It’s only the head of the order that answers to the pope. They are Machavalian.

Not sure what the Jesuits have to do with it. Notre Dame is affiliated with the Congregation of the Holy Cross (CSC). And according to its President (Rev. John I. Jenkins, CSC), Mass is celebrated over 100 times per week on campus.

Are those Masses celebrated before, after or during a ‘performance’ of the Vagina Monologues?
To: NHResident
I know what you are saying. There is a struggle between good and evil on every campus, and it's a see-saw contest.
I hope we can discern when the forces of good are winning a round at Notre Dame, and cheer when Catholicism is reasserted tot he point where it defeats the disgraceful abominations such as the one you referenced.
Mary, destroyer of heresies, intercede for us.

The problem at Notre Dame regarding the Vagina Monologues deals with the faculty senate. When Monk Malloy was the president, he let all the lefties run rampant and gave the faculty senate too much control of so called "academic freedom". A more strident and forceful president would have told them they are welcome to show the Vagina Monologues someplace in South Bend, just not on the campus at Notre Dame, however, Jenkins caved into the academic freedom garbage. It's still pretty overtly Catholic at Notre Dame, but there are all sorts of vestiges of Monk's damaging reign such as gay groups, the VM band wagon types and all sorts of political correctness instead of true religion. I pray for my alma mater that it finds a new, strong leader. While I think Fr. Jenkins is a decent man, he is wrong to allow the VM to be seen on campus. Its really a simple decision and he hasn't the guts to make it.

Still a long way to go and they should start by firing that heretic McBrien and petitioning Rome to dismiss him from the clerical state.

When my oldest son was a senior, I suggested he take McBrien’s class just to see what kind of guy he was.....he told me no dice, wanted to take another prof (CSC) that I had for Business Ethics many years before and did.
