Americans are Keeping Score
February 20, 2009

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to ask those of you in this audience -- those of you liberals and especially those of you in this audience who are moderates -- who voted for President Obama on the basis that you thought we're getting somebody truly different and magnanimous. We were going to get a new president that was going to wipe away all of the old arguments and trivialize all the old disagreements and were going to truly become a country on the upward move to lofty new heights un-before realized. That's really what you believed, that you thought that's what you were voting for. I want you to ask yourselves honestly, because I'm asking you to do so: Do you think that's what you've gotten here?

We have a stock market down over 2,000 points since the election of Obama. The stock market has plunged more since Obama was elected than it did during the Bush period of September and October. We are bailing out losers with money that we are printing. We are punishing achievers. But more importantly, the first people to raise the specter of race since the immaculation have been Obama people: James Clyburn from South Carolina, chairman, Congressional Black Caucus; and Eric Holder. What about all this magnanimity we were going to have? What about all this love and unification, all these things that you genuinely believed would happen if we would just cross this barrier and finally admit once and for all our sins and elect this articulate, clean black gentleman who speaks so well, as Joe Biden pointed out? How do you feel about all this now?

I'll tell you what I'm sensing out there, not just among people on our side. I'm speaking to the conservatives in the audience. I'm sensing the effervescence, the pulse of a backlash, of a revolution. The people -- the mob, the great unwashed, the people who make the country work, whatever you wish to call them -- they're going to turn. They turn slowly, and after they've made the slow turn, it's going to be like the tide coming in. It's unstoppable. I am talking about those of you who both pay your mortgages and pay your taxes, the vast majority of the workforce, the kind of people who voted for and loved Ronald Reagan, the kind of people who voted for Obama thinking lofty new heights were just ahead, that a new era of love and unification all over the world of us ours if this man simply became president.

These people are starting to realize that, while they're working hard and while they're playing by the rules, there were a lot of idiots spending more than they had and getting in way over their heads, and now those idiots are having to be bailed out by the people playing by the rules. I am hearing it all over the place. Despite all of this PC BS that the left has tried to shove down people's throats, most people in most parts of the country understand the traditional value of hard work and living within their means; and now they're starting to ask, "Why in the hell should I pay for somebody else's bad decisions? Why should I reward their bad behavior?"

It was proclaimed loudly on the Chicago Board of Trade yesterday by CNBC's Rick Santelli, the Chicago Tea Party. There is an extension here of what the left has been doing with youth sports for the past 20 years. We, on this program, every time we've seen an example of this, we've chronicled it for you. One team at a youth sports league is better than all the others, so they stop keeping score, because we don't want to humiliate the losers. We don't want to make them feel bad; we don't want to hurt their feelings. Well, contrary to what the PC bosses might understand, these kids still keep score even if nobody hears about it, but they're keeping score, and you know why? Because kids, the United States, is made up of competitive people.

You can have all the politically correct tree-hugging lefty liberals tell 'em not to keep score and they will keep score in their heads. It's what drives them. It's what drives all of us. We are all competitive, and it is in our genes to want to improve our lives for our families. It is called working in our own self-interests. I'll guarantee you, these kids in these youth leagues who are told not to keep score, when they get in their parents' cars at the end of the game they can tell their parents exactly what the score was. They keep score. Well, the same thing is happening with their parents. Their parents are keeping score. They may be afraid to say so publicly, because they don't want to be called cowards by Eric Holder.

But here's the translation: No matter how many times the Obama administration tells us that we have to step in and rescue the losers so they're not humiliated -- the ones that either bought too much house or didn't read the fine print on their loan that, that we have to step in and bail these people out -- the rest of us are growing increasingly suspect. We're starting to talk to each other. Snerdley told me he walked out of his house the other day and his neighbor came out just to tell him how mad he was about all this that's going on. People are starting to talk to each other about this, and we are keeping score. Biden may say that this is a recovery based on fairness. In fact, grab that sound bite. I th ink that's sound bite number three, is it not? Yes, it is. Joe Biden, this morning in the White House, introducing Obama, who is about to address the US conference of mayors in the East Room.

BIDEN: President Obama has put our nation on the path for greater recovery; not only greater recovery, but greater decency, greater fairness, greater opportunity, along with economic recovery.

RUSH: What's last in his list? Economic recovery. What's first? Decency, greater fairness. Fairness defined by liberals as spreading misery equally. That's what this bunch is about: fairness! That's why they're content to let the market plunge because only the rich are in the market, they think, and it's about time the rich found out what it's like. I guarantee you there is rage and anger in this administration that is behind some of the lack of attention. There's not even the slightest bit concern of what's happening in the market. You can't find this administration expressing any concern over the investor class and what's happened to them, not one, not a syllable. You can't find one stated concern.

All you'll find is statements about how we're going to control these people, after we bail 'em out and nationalize them or what have you. But people are keeping score. This is what Obama doesn't know. Barack Obama and his administration cannot kill the American some people. The stimulus package cannot kill the American spirit. We are keeping score. We have compassion for those who were truly blindsided by this, but we don't want to bail out loser after loser after loser who decided to play fast and loose while we played it straight. And make no mistake, that's how people look at this. A lot of people, the vast majority of people in this country think they've played it straight.

Now they're being told they have to make good for those who didn't. It's no different than what the left has done in schools with outcome-based education. "We can't put people in advanced placement classes, and humiliate those who were not suitable for admission." The majority of the American people at the end of the day are competitive. This is why we're a nation, for example, obsessed with our sports teams. I'm a Steelers fan. You think I don't care who wins when they play? Hell, sometimes I'll even take a call from a referee wrong that goes in my favor. I don't want to charge out there and say, "Hey, ref, you blew it. Give the other team the ball. They deserve it." I'll take it.

Well, the referees are giving everything to the losers, under the premise that they're only losers 'cause the winners are winners. Tax -paying people who make it all work will not put up long rewarding failure, being forced to reward failure. Beware this huge backlash. It'll turn. It'll turn slowly, and like the tide coming in, it is unstoppable. It has already started, in fact. The pulse of the backlash has begun. The pulse of revolution is out there, and at some point the anger that you know is there will surface and you will see it and you will hear it. People will overcome their fear of opposition to this because at the end of the day they will not sit there and let everything they've worked for be destroyed, particularly on the basis that they deserve to be destroyed because it's been unfair in the first place that they succeeded.

O, Canada, with your center right Prime Minister now talking truth to Obama.

Do you know what they talked about when they got together?

I wish we weren’t just a bunch of conservatives shouting at one another in an echo chamber. I don’t hear any moderates or libs conceding the fact that Obama is an idiot.

Lately I’m wondering if it would be in the national interest for the military to invade Washington DC so they can save the United States.

Actually, if you think about it, you do have them surrounded. :-)

Well, I think it’s still a bit early to wish for a General Pinochet to lead the military against Obama’s President Allende.

I sincerely hope we don’t become that desperate.

But I’ve got to admit Obama is looking that way more and more.

As the situation continues to bite, more and more libs (including municipal and state workers who start getting furloughed and paid in IOU’s) are going to start having second thoughts about their Messiah.

It really is mind-boggling that the “Hope and Change” candidate is continuing his Alinskyite “miserification” tactics AFTER getting himself elected.

He just does not understand that the rabble-rousing tactics that work so well for a community organizer have serious repercussions for a Chief Executive who uses them. At this point an FDR would be trying to fool us into thinking things were getting better

What about Jindal?

Baraka Hussein will only lose to a candidate that is a street fighter.

Unless Jindal or someone else emerges as a street fighter who is capable punching the propagandist press and the socialists now in control of the United States Government in the face, 2012 is lost.

The prospect of starving tends to sharpen the mind. I don’t know if this is the beginning of the end but even the professional teat-suckers are going to find themselves thinking more and more clearly as they realize a bankrupt government cannot keep their AFDC, TANF, Sec 8 vouchers, Food Stamps, SSI, and Medicaid checks and reimbursements flowing.

Obama is riding the tiger of fear and anger. The moment it misses a feeding it will devour him. The people most like him will be the most merciless on him when they realize he can’t take care of them.

“”Lately I’m wondering if it would be in the national interest for the military to invade Washington DC so they can save the United States.””

There was a movie years ago “Seven Days in May” with Burt Lancaster - a coup in the US. I have a friend (US Citizen) who returned to Malta to care for his mother and plans to return to the US but is keeping a close eye on what is happening here. He doesn’t think a military coup here would be a bad idea. Something will give for sure and it won’t be pretty but what is our country worth? Everything to those of us who love it - nothing for those who are doing everything in their POWER to destroy it. I think we outnumber them.......

Do you know what they talked about when they got together?

Here is the email I received from the PMO. (Prime Ministers Office)

-------------------------------

Release

Date: February 19, 2009

PRESIDENT OBAMA AND PRIME MINISTER HARPER VOW JOINT EFFORT ON NORTH AMERICAN ECONOMIC RECOVERY

Leaders establish Clean Energy Dialogue, discuss global security concerns

OTTAWA – President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Stephen Harper today agreed the United States and Canada will pursue economic recovery measures and efforts to strengthen the international financial system to counter the global economic recession.

“I value our strategic partnership with Canada and look forward to working closely with the Prime Minister to address the global economic recession and create jobs, to protect our environment through promoting clean energy technologies, and achieve our shared goals in responding to international security challenges.” said the President.

“The President and I agree that both our countries must take immediate action to restore economic growth by lowering taxes, ensuring access to credit and unleashing spending that stimulates economic growth. We also agreed to strengthen our cooperation in the areas of environmental protection and global security,” said the Prime Minister.

RESTORING ECONOMIC GROWTH AND CREATING JOBS

The President and the Prime Minister discussed their respective economic recovery plans and their focus on saving and creating jobs. In addition, the President and the Prime Minister discussed common challenges they face, including restructuring of the North American auto sector.

They also discussed working together to develop effective global responses to the economic crisis, through the G-8 and G-20 processes. The United States and Canada will actively work together to ensure that the G-20 Summit in April contributes to restoring confidence in financial markets.

Finally, they instructed senior officials to meet at an early date to develop strategies to enhance our collective security in North America, including reviewing the management of the Canada-U.S. border.

TACKLING CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY SECURITY

Noting the long and productive history of bilateral co-operation on continental environmental protection and energy trade and technology, the President and the Prime Minister agreed that environmental protection and the development of clean energy are inextricably linked and announced plans to work together to build a new energy economy as a key element of broader economic recovery and reinvestment efforts.

The Leaders discussed practical ways the United States and Canada could encourage the development of clean energy technologies to reduce greenhouse gases and combat climate change. The Leaders established a senior-level U.S.-Canada Clean Energy Dialogue that will cooperate on several critical energy science and technology issues, including:

- Expand clean energy research and development - Develop and deploy clean energy technology - Build a more efficient electricity grid based on clean and renewable generation

United States and Canadian officials will meet in the coming weeks to launch the Clean Energy Dialogue.

RESPONDING TO INTERNATIONAL SECURITY CHALLENGES

The President and the Prime Minister agreed on the importance of Canada and the United States cooperating closely on a number of key international priorities for both countries, with a particular focus on Afghanistan, which is a top priority for both countries and which will be a major subject of attention at the upcoming NATO Summit. The Leaders also agreed to work together closely in the Americas, including promoting effective discussion and meaningful results at the Summit of the Americas in April.

Our Foreign Ministers will meet in Washington next week, and Ministers of Defence the following week, to pursue a strengthened dialogue on these and other key international challenges.

--------------------------------------

“The President and I agree that both our countries must take immediate action to restore economic growth by lowering taxes, ensuring access to credit and unleashing spending that stimulates economic growth....

I loved that line! Stephen Harper is very smart. :-)

Red Dawn is more like it.

In Seven Days in May the general (played by Lancaster) comes to admit that he wouldn’t have done anything different than the liberal president (played by March, I think) would have, once he heard how the president actually responded to the threat.

That, of course, was LIBERALSPEAK. Seven Days in May is in the end a propaganda piece for Marxists, meant to allay American patriot fears that they would be less safe under a liberal.

“”Some would consider your comments treasonous.””

It’s going to have to come to some citizens taking a stand. Where will it begin? Will we stand together? Or are all these threads just a way of letting off steam? The treason is going on in DC and we all know it, don’t we?

Give some thought to the terrorist training compounds revealed to be in the US (35 in number) this week by Sean Hannity and the Christian Action Network. Why is that permitted? Is it not treasonous for the government not to close these places down? David Koresh was more of a threat to the nation? Where is the FBI and Homeland Security? Islamberg in NY State is populated by convicted felons, armed guards at gates with the government knowing they have illegal weapons and yet the “residents” work for the NY State Thruway and the credit card payment processing centers in the area. How convenient!!!

Sorry for straying off the subject but I think we’re all on overload and there is only so much we can handle.

This has been going on since the New Deal - almost 70 years! And there's been no backlash yet. Instead, Democrats just keep getting elected by larger and larger majorities. Why does Rush or anyone going to think there's going to be a backlash now?

"You are seeing today an all out attempt to marshal the forces of the opposition, using not merely the communists, or their fellow travelers-the deluded liberals, the eggheads, and some of my good friends in both the Democratic and Republican Parties who can become heros over night in the eyes of the left-wing press if they will just join with the jackal pack"

Way past time the "left wing media" was left unscathed.

Putis cronies took care of his politkovskaya problem, and everything was hunky dory.

We have a couple choices. Help get information out to hasten the day that enough of the American public wakes up so that we can legally take back the government, or lay away survival gear and knowledge.
