Shock BNP victory as far-right candidate takes council seat in Kent

A shock win for the far-right British National Party yesterday sent a tremor through Labour amid growing fears that the recession is driving angry voters into the arms of extremist parties.

The BNP seized a Labour seat in a district council by-election in Sevenoaks on a substantial turnout, encouraging fears that the party could make significant advances in the June local and European elections.

The Kent town is a Tory stronghold at Westminster and local politicians had previously dismissed the likelihood of a breakthrough for the BNP.

But the result will be seized on as evidence that Gordon Brown's ill-judged pledge to secure 'British jobs for British workers' has backfired by encouraging nationalist sentiment.

Earlier this month a wave of wildcat strikes against companies using foreign workers caused anxiety in Whitehall and fuelled fears that the far-right is intent on exploiting the downturn.

This is what happens when a Country is run into the ground by Communists for over a decade, and Conservatives fail to grasp the enourmity of the anger of Public opinion.

The Euro Elections this year are going to be an eye opener for the leaders of the Conservative Party, and a nail in the coffin for the Communist Party.

I hope David Cameron is up for a Political fight, he's going to get one from the Nationalists and UKIP, and the odds are going to be stacked immensely against the two big Party's after their failure to grasp the depth of anger in the British heartlands.

The labor party allows sharia law and the “journalists” are worrying about far right “extremists? What a bunch of “Obama”. New word for something else that stinks.

The Labour Party are so far removed from current Public opinion, it’s ridiculous.

And whatd’ya know, they changed the headline text in the last 2 minutes, to include the mandatory Liberal tag of ‘exremism’!

I am tired of them calling people who don’t want to be enslaved, extremists. Were the Jews extremists in the Warsaw ghetto or at Auschwitz? Were the patriots at Lexington “extremists”? What about the Alamo? Dunkirk? Normandy?

How come everyone who refuses to roll over and die for the totalitarians called extremists?

The only hope for Britain is for the English nationalists to get into power in these local councils, and reverse the pro-moslem, anti-christian insanity that’s been going on.

Otherwise it’s muezzins calling the faithful to prayer from the minarets of Oxford, as Gibbon put it.

Good news! In the event of US military involvement in a European civil war pitting nationalists against Muslims this is who’ll we’ll be fighting with.

It’s good that European, multi-party nations like Britain have parties like the BNP that can step up to the forefront when things get tough. Our “two” party system strangles new parties in their cribs, and so, when things get tough over here, there’s no one or nothing new to grab the reins.

As a classic British Conservative, agreing with the truth and reality of your comment stings a little.
I just hope that we can use British values to bring a Conservative resolution to the Social degeneration in Britain, brought about by sustained destruction of British identity by both Labour and poorly led Conservative Governments.

Yup, this could be the spark.
Tonight another 10000 jobs have gone in our already depleted manufacturing market.
The rise of a Nationalist rejection of a new World order may possibly start right here in the Green Hills of England.

I know our American Republican (small “r”) is different than European Parliamentary systems, however one can argue that “The Ron Paul Revolution” is equivelent to some of the “far right” or nationalists parties (and Euroskeptic) parties in Europe, at least I see it that way!

I hope you are right. Watching the Great Britain of old disappear deeply pains this Irish-American Anglophile.

It’s quite entertaining to see a thread on FR singing the praises of an avowed national socialist neo-nazi political party.

Their OFFICIAL positions, their party platform, is that the HOLOCAUST never happened, capitalism in its current configuration is a jewish conspiracy to rule the world, that non-whites are racially inferior and must be deported ASAP, etc.

Once they achieve power, they promise massive expropriation (theft) of assets and redistribution to Britians lower-middle class and poor whites. This is the demographic they chase and other people’s money is the bait.

... and I’m reading this thread on FreeRepublic?

What the hell is wrong with you people?

The BNP are not torchbearers of freedom. Beneath all that rhetoric about protecting English freedoms is a Nazi Party that despises the very values it claims to stand up for. And I’m not using the term ‘Nazi’ as a throwaway epithet. These are actual Nazis who admire Hitler and everything. The previous leader John Tyndall even used to wear leaderhosen and a swastika armband whilst giving speeches extolling the virtues of German National Socialism and its campaign against world jewery... Don’t be fooled, these people are scum...

Does this mean that the taboo about anyone in the European media and their colleagues in our MSM ever calling a marxist an extremist may erode?
