I think he is just acting in this one. He is married to Kyra Sedgewick [sp] who is positively rabid. However, I must give them some credit because they’ve been married for about fifteen years which, in Hollywood, is a rarity. That said, I’m very interested in watching...
Medved said that Lt Col Strobl gave major kudos to Bacon for the job he did in this movie (Bacon portrays Strobl, who wrote the story based on his own experiences).
He and his wife were Obama supporters.
He just appeared in a movie that depicted Nixon as a buffoon.

I attended the Tonight Show last Monday with two Marines. Kevin Bacon was Leno's guest. After the show we went onstage to meet Kevin. He couldn't have been more gracious and wanted to chat about the movie and the Corps.
He was in Quantico last week presenting the movie on his own time. He invited us backstage and we chatted for about 20 minutes.
Regardless of his politics, he is a genuine American and a patriot.

I have trouble believing this of Obama-supporters since they would cut back on the WOT, allow Guantanamo to be closed, negotiate with Iran, implement socialism which curtails freedom, promote gay marriage, promote abortion, implement global warming policy which would gut our economy,keep prayer out of school, take away your guns,etc. etc. etc.
But if you want to believe he's a patriot because you spent time chatting with Bacon and he is going to make millions off a movie he's promoting you, of course, are free to do so.

If you think he did this purely for altruistic reasons, I think you don't get how a movie star thinks.
Maybe if he hadn't just made a move making a buffoon out of Nixon (much of it fiction) and maybe if he hadn't supported the most leftist person ever to be elected, I might entertain the thought that he was a patriot. But I have a HARD time thinking any person with such values is a patriot. Patriots live for freedom. Socialists definitely do not.
The young PFC "Chance" was a fine young man and a precious loss and a honorable soul to give his life for his country.
