Sir, there is an alternative:

The constitution allows the states to call a constitutional convention any time they like.
The sole purpose in this case would be for:

1. Ratification of an amendment repealing the 16th amendment.

2. Granting states sole responsibility for the collection of taxes from individual citizens and business except for tariffs.

3. Restrict congress from creating any law or taxes not specifically related to granted authorities as defined by the constitution.

Currently approximately 2/3 of the States are Red States. I believe a 2/3 majority is what would be required to ratify the constitution.

The 16th amendment gave birth to the Federal Government monster and the states are the ONLY entity that can possibly reign in the feds.

If it can be repealed we will have a much better chance of stopping the destruction of America. As part of the act of repeal, congress may not create any law not specifically related to its constitutionally authority.

Now is the time. The polls indicate a very low congressional approval of around 11%? Congress has overstepped its mandate considerably.

Almost half of the state legislatures are considering or have representatives preparing to introduce resolutions which reassert the principles of the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution and the idea that federal power is strictly limited to specific areas detailed in the Constitution and that all other governmental authority rests with the states.

Now is the time. Please contact your state and local representatives and ask them to please consider the above!

A BIG Maybe for sure but in my opinion probably the only chance we have to restore liberty and freedom for ALL. Including the folks who show up for mind numbing work everyday, pay their mortgages and bills on time and support their families as they should.

The founders left it for us to use in just such a circumstance of last resort.

At best we are going to see some interesting and difficult times ahead. Please prepare accordingly...

I’m afraid their is an inherent danger in calling a constitutional convention. Representatives would be appointed by current state governors (I believe) who are mostly Dems now. And once a convention is called, it cannot be limited as to topics. They could as easily rescind the 2nd Amendment as force the feds to behave. I’m not sure we want to go there!

The constitution allows the states to call a constitutional convention any time they like. The sole purpose in this case would be for:

The sole purpose of the original Constitutional Convention was to amend the Articles of Confederation. The articles required that any such amendments be adopted unanimously. The Convention through out the articles and put the Constitution in it's place, but only required 9 of the 13 (and then 14) states to ratify for it to go into effect.

Once a Constitutional Convention starts, it cannot be limited in scope as you propose.
