IN THEORY, if one kept a spare laptop drive with non-fritzed OS (any Linux will do) capable of spoofing a MAC address (again, any ol Linux will do), being careful to install no identifying software (Don't be stupid and put your name in it, or log onto your e-mail from it), and wander around till you find an unprotected wireless, How exactly will they know who you are?

They won't. So five years after this passes, they will declare that forcing ISPs to keep records didn't work, because of folks using spoofing software, and then require that every internet user have a unique user key, that must be biometrically verified everytime they log on.

Does that sound paranoid? A bit. But I can't help thinking about the old saying:

When everyone is out to get you, paranoia is just good thinking.

I'm disappointed in Cornyn.

Not at all! I just have a great faith in the ability of hackers (in the classic sense of the word) to stay in front of the tech. For instance, the biometric reader is a simple machine. It can be disassembled and fed anyone's biometric information. This is, BTW, exactly what will drive the beast to "chip" everyone in Biblically prophetic "Mark of the Beast" fashion, before it is all done, IMHO...

I'm disappointed in Cornyn.

Perhaps Texas will have something to say by next election (I surely do hope so). It is for reasons such as these that I am no longer a Republican, and not likely to ever go back.

Reagan needs a new house.
