I know that in Texas, you can’t ride a bicycle after sundown, without a headlight.
“I know that in Texas, you cant ride a bicycle after sundown, without a headlight.”
Here in PA, you can’t drive over 65.
Guess how many people do this every day?
I live in GA. My Dad used to live in Texas for 7 years.
The process and expense to get my CCW here was minimal. Still too much (considering I shouldn't have to get government permission to exercise my Constitutional rights), but minimal compared to the expense and hassle my Dad had to go through in Texas.
How another Southern/Southwestern state could have such Nanny/Police-State policies is amazing, maddening, and disappointing to me.
These cops have a chip on their shoulders and need to lighten up. The person should NOT have been chased and charged for making a stupid comment as he rode by, and certainly not for choosing to carry his handgun, with CCW, as he saw fit.
The petty and childish retribution these cops displayed, feeds into the Jack-Booted-Thug opinion many have about them.
They should be reprimanded by their supervisors, and the harassed person should consider suing, at least for the charge relating to the handgun. Technically, the cops had the right to charge him with the ridiculous bicycle light law, but they should have used the judgement they are normally allowed, and just kept to the task they were engaged in before the bicyclist rode by.
You're right. They probably should have beaten him till he had brain damage.
