| WASHINGTON, Feb. 19, 2009 Kyrgyzstans parliament voted today to close Manas Air Base, a key logistics hub for the U.S. military, but a senior Pentagon official said the base closure would not affect operations in Afghanistan.
[Manas Air Base] is an important base for operations in Afghanistan, but its not irreplaceable, Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters here today. If its not available to us, well find other means. |

And how many Billions did we expend to build the Base and bribe the Pols in the first place. Just more crap/corruption/mismanagement in the conduct of these necessary wars.
Neither Russia nor Kazakhstan share a border with Afghanistan. They have to make nice with either Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, or Turkmenistan. It isn't optional.
They should never have allowed the loony left to get us thrown out of Uzbekistan.
We didn't build it. It's a civilian airport we're putting to military use along with all the regular non-military traffic.
