MERTZON, Texas (AP) — Millions of wild pigs weighing up to 300 pounds have been tearing up crops, trampling fences and eating just about anything in their path in Texas. But now they had better watch their hairy backs.

A state lawmaker is proposing to allow ordinary Texans with rifles and shotguns to shoot the voracious, tusked animals from helicopters.

The wild hogs will eat the wolves they kill and breed faster. ;)

At Sun-N-Fun last year I talked to a guy at the Rans plane exhibit who gets paid by the state of Wyoming to shoot cayote.
It’s a light sport plane that will fly up to 100 m.p.h. or as slow as about 25.
Pilot sits in front, shooter in back and the doors are off.
They simply record lat. long. on their g.p.s., make their report and the state govt. pays them per cayote.
State of Florida needs to let us hunt wild hogs from the air.
Way too many wild hogs and boar here in Florida, open season all year.
Hell all we usually do is tie our selves to the bow sprits of our boats and shoot flying fish with 20 gauge shot guns offshore.

Well, if they would think twice about it, they could use the pigs to keep the Muslims out of their territory... LOL...

It’s a mini-gun. Noone ever said Weapon Pukes were great thinkers. BTW, some of my worst days were having the M-61 on the F-16 jam and the feed chute jam.....

I would be willing to pay a pretty good amount of money to go to texas and whack some pigs from a door gunner position.

You could probably find a bargain with a pickup truck with a benchrest chair bolted to the bed. Think of it as a semiautomatic version of the Rat Patrol and save some bucks ;)

I've hunted wild boar in California, and taken a couple over 200 pounds. My daughters were raised on boar meat. They are savage beasts, no doubt, but alaskan wolves are very large and hunt in packs. They regularly kill full grown moose. For you Texans...That's like a tall PBR bull with bigger horns.

Next thing you'll be trying to tell me that bush could beat Palin in an arm wrestle. :)

I had my first taste of wild boar at 13...a couple of family friends used to throw an annual wild meat roast (avid bow hunters). The venison was awesome, the stewed bear was even better, but oh lord, that roast boar was the best thing I had ever eaten in my life.

That sounds like a blast. a couple years ago i went deer hunting in Virginia with hounds, and that was really exciting. But, “ Pork-Choppers” brings that excitement to an entirely different level.
Note to self, add to “bucket list”

Shooting animals from helicopters is not “hunting”, anymore than shooting fish in a barrel is “fishing”.

People who hoon around in helcopters while shooting animals are not sportsmen or real hunters, they are yahoos with guns, and they ought to have their guns taken away from them permanently for being a public menace.

Same deal with hoons who shoot at animals from moving land vehicles. Arrest ‘em and take away their guns. They are a danger to themselves and to others.
