Things Explained: Gasoline Prices The mysteries behind oil and gas prices
Star-Telegram (Fort Worth) ^ | Feb. 15, 2009 | Ed Wallace

... "How is it that the price of oil can fall and yet the price of gasoline rises?" Somewhere along the way, most reporters covering the energy industry have convinced Americans that the price of oil and gasoline pump prices are somehow directly connected. Well, the connection is there, but it is a weak one; and certainly over the past few years, misinformation has confused the effect of oil prices on the price of gasoline and diesel. (Snip)

Now, the most thoughtful question I’m asked is, "What is a fair price for oil?" The answer to that question differs greatly from what you’d have heard 40 years ago.

Ed Wallace is the most rational voice commenting on the oil and gasoline markets today. Read his Business Week articles at the link. Someone posted an article from Denver on why oil can be down and gas prices up, and posting Ed's article is the best way to explain it.

If you follow the links to Ed Wallace’s web site and read his Business Week articles, you will have a good handle on what has been going on for the last year in petroleum prices.

Ping. The good news... Diesel is less than gas here today.

The bad news... Octane 87 is $2.60 on the street...

Only if they’ll work. We have enough that think showing up is all that is required for a paycheck.

You’d think with the MILLIONS unemployed, one or two would actually WANT to work, but nooooooo.

That's why I sold the other seven trucks I had a couple years ago...

Everyone wants a job, nobody wants to work...

Diesel was 2.05 in Nv, 2.07 in Ca... diesel is forecast to fall below gas shortly however, the reports I've been hearing haven't said whether that means premium or reg grade would be the first time since 2002 which was the first since 1898

A tad frustrating to say the least.

Will try and remember to check on diesel tomorrow.
