I know part of the extension of the Great Depression was due to protectionism
Why,you've drunk the kool-aid! Ben Bernanke, an expert on the Great Depression said to the world that the Fed did it. He said they did it by manipulating the money supply. He also apologized and said that the wouldn't do it again, but he lied.
After 30 years of "free trade" we have practically no tariffs left. You'll have to tell me which one it is that started this depression. I am curious to know. It shouldn't be hard, as I said, there aren't too many left.
BTW many Americans don't want to do business with Chinese communist slavers. But Congress it's corrupt globalist presidents who threaten to sue citizens for interfering with their foreign policy, when citizens attempt to stop it. No, its not American citizens that have caused the problem, but those 'global citizens' of the transnational corporations and the corrupted public officials they buy off with stock offerings, graft and campaign funds.

The Great Depression had mostly one cause which was loose credit, then an inevitable bubble, then an inevitable bursting (Bernanke is actually wrong, it's the preceding loose credit that created it, not the bit of subsequent tightening). The protectionism was not a cause but helped make it worse at the wrong point in time. If you want government protectionism now, you are making the same mistake.

(Cooperating with Obama = helping him extend the depression and implement socialism.)
