Palin's teen daughter wishes pregnancy came later

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Bristol Palin loves motherhood, but the teenage daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she's not getting much sleep these days.

Bristol Palin says in a two-part interview on Fox News Channel's "On the Record" that she wishes her pregnancy had "happened in, like, 10 years so I could have a job and an education and be, like, prepared and have my own house and stuff."

Palin goes on to say that son Tripp, born Dec. 27, brings her so much joy, she doesn't regret having him at all. She's engaged to the baby's father, Levi Johnston.

The governor also made an appearance in the interview, which took place Sunday in Fairbanks.

Part one of the interview aired Monday night and the second part was scheduled to air Tuesday night.

OK, I give up. Is there a better, less derogatory word we can use to differentiate a child born of married parents and a child born out of wedlock ?

What was the point of bringing it up? Yes, I know, why not wonder aloud? Apparently the private decisions between Bristol and her fiance are of some importance.

“Maybe when he can support them? He was working and learning a trade but the media got that stopped fast.”

From what I read here on FR, he does not have a high school diploma, and he needed it for that particular job.

Apparently he has a learning disability and didn’t finish high school (according to the article).

Just how much watching of her 19 and 23 year old daughters can your sister do. Seriously, that sounds creepy.

You can't watch girls that old 24/7....Sounds creepy to me too. Hmmm will we see chastity belts posted next?

This is so ridiculous. If any teens take her words as gospel so to speak, then they are stupid. What is with these people being role models anyway?

“It will be interesting to see how many kids use her words as permission to have sex before marriage.”

Another excuse no different than those using music (since I was a kid way back), TV, movies.

Teens, unmarried couples, have been having sex, premarital sex since the beginning of time. Why is this so difficult to understand?

Most parents want what is best for their kids and teach their kids values. Even the best parents have kids who do what the kids decide to do, regardless of what the parents teach.

Bottom line, any kids (or parents) using her words as permission for having pre-marital sex, just don’t get it anyway.

Anyone can comment on this topic. Doesn’t mean it’s any of our business, really. But you knew that already, right?

Well said. I don’t know seekandfind and can’t say what he/she meant. All I know is there’s a whole lot of self righteous people on some of these threads.

It is part of the "It takes a Village to raise a child" mentality. No more personal responsibility.

“Define father. I guarantee by your definition, half the father’s on FR would fail.”

A father is someone who commits to providing security and love to his children and their mother.

It’s more honourable to admit that you can’t hack it, than to screw up another generation with on-again-off-again drive-by attempts at parenting.

Levi doesn’t seem like he really wants to step up to the plate, or, perhaps, Bristol doesn’t want him to do so. Either way, it’s not a good way forward for the child.

I think some of you people have a history I’m not aware of, in the loop, etc. It makes it a bit more difficult to participate in threads.

Oh my gosh! ROTFLMAO!

I was thinking the same thing. I’m glad you posted it.

Heh. Every time I read or hear that “it takes a village” crap, I immediately think, hell no, it takes a freakin parent.

Don’t even get me started on the whole Michael Phelps scandal.

And you gathered all your inside information about Levi not wanting to be a parent from... ?

did you not hear Bristol say that Levi sees his son every day? How do you know he isn't providing security and love?

If you can't provide the proof to your accusations, then shut it.

I agree about that term. I think that is an ugly name for a baby born into whatever circumstances. Parents are responsible for the situation, never a child.
