Palin's star still shines despite shabby treatment

In the aftermath of the presidential election last November, one thing stands out that does not bring distinction to our political process. It was the objectivity-challenged behavior of the media toward the candidacy of vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. It was both shameful and no way to treat a woman.

The press, who seemed to virtually fawn on Mr. Obama's every move, went out of its way to undermine Sarah Palin. Manners, chivalry and courtesy took a hike. In fact, the liberal media gave her the full 3-D treatment - discredit, deride and defame.

Sarah Palin came on the scene as a woman of ability and accomplishment. Her presence as a principled conservative annoyed the left wing in America. They threw the book at her.

Her bringing a mentally-challenged fetus to term was too much for the narrow-minded ``liberals.'' Indeed, her kind, motherly support for her pregnant, unwed teenager became fodder for the negative press. They even ridiculed the cost of her campaign wardrobe.

Gov. Palin brought a strong dose of respectability to John McCain's struggling and lackluster campaign. Her selection to his ticket electrified the GOP base, and had Sen. McCain had even the slightest coherence of a clear message, he might have become president - thanks to the Palin presence as his running mate. Without her, he very well could have suffered a McGovern-like loss.

Palin's star has not lost its glow. She can cast a triple A treatment right back at her discourteous opponents - accomplishment, ability and ambition. These values, along with her unique ability to articulate in a way that inspires everyday Americans, puts her in a position to someday be a significant national leader - perhaps becoming our first female president, the left-leaning media notwithstanding.

True, and this with Cinderella arriving at the Ball at 11:30 PM.

No wonder the cowards on the left are scared $hitless of what she represents.

The Left is evil. Governor Palin and her family need an armed and manly, Free Republic Protection team.

Your graphic is nice, but Gov. Palin has a ways to go before I would compare her to Lady Thatcher (I apologize if I have her title wrong), although the Governor certainly has the potential.

She could shave her head bald as far as I’m concerned. At least it’s screwed on right, which is more than I can say for 95% of our elected officials any more.

The press is a bunch of thuggish whores. And they behaved as such.

Only partly, it wasn't Sarah they hated, but Jesus.

The Thatcher we know today was much like Palin when she was young. Thatcher had to practice and refine her oratary/debating skills early on.

One might say that a young Margaret Thatcher had a way to go before she became Lady Thatcher.

“Palin/Sowell for 2012! “

That would have my vote for sure. That would make an awesome team. Also, Palin/Pence and Palin/Sanford as well.

That Magnificent Ba$tard K. Rove said on Hannity last night that the Dims knew that Zerobama was not smart as as a Senator and had no executive smarts so they wrote what they wanted in the S++tty bill. Sarah has more executive moxie than both OBIE and McPain! Time will tell!!!

"One might say that a young Margaret Thatcher had a way to go before she became Lady Thatcher."

Yes, but she is Lady Thatcher today and Gov. Palin is not yet there. The graphic seems to suggest that they are more equal today, which is simply not the case. Understand?

It’s such a relief to have Sarah speak her mind without having the stupid McCain campaign people up her butt. The way she spoke last night, just coming out, saying what she feels about this stimulus package, was PERFECT. I haven’t heard any elected official come out and say VETO it, of course Bambi already signed it, like he was gonna listen to her anyway, but I love Sarah’s say what you feel attitude, I LOVE that, I am the same way, she doesn’t take crap from no one, she is a fighter and an inspiration to millions. I can’t wait til it’s 2012, where we can FINALLY throw this Marxist out of power and have REAL change

I recommend an article by a former aide to “the Iron Lady” Margaret Thatcher about Gov. Sarah Palin.

His point was that EVEN Margaret Thatcher didn't start out as Margaret Thatcher. Noting the change in her rhetorical style, he quoted an English paper saying after Mrs Thatcher demolished an opponent that ‘if there was performance drug testing for politicians, someone should test Margaret Thatcher’.

Read the article here on Free Republic, can't seem to find it now.

Now there's a good idea!

The VP doesn't have that many duties, Coulter could still write books and do speeches.

On the other hand, I think she will probably opt out.

She has too much serious work to do.

I have this bumper sticker

"Sarah has more executive moxie than both OBIE and McPain!"

And, unfortunately, that is not necessarily saying much. That is not a slam or slight of Palin ... it is a true statement.

"Time will tell!!!"

Exactly! That is all I'm trying to say. Palin has great potential, but not much experience on the national scene with national issues. If she is truly interested in being POTUS, she will improve, I have no doubt.

It is too early to be selecting a nominee for 2012. We need to keep open minds. Does that mean no support for Palin? No. But it does mean that we need to have open and honest discussions about her as time progresses so that if she decides to run we will be able to support her in the appropriate manner, not blindly way ahead of time.
