Team plane diverts, lands safely
Friday, Feb. 20, 2009

A plane owned by Michael Waltrip Racing landed safely at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas on Thursday after the pilot shut down an engine during its flight.

McCarran spokesman Chris Jones said the plane landed without incident on the west side of the airport, according to a report in the Las Vegas Sun site.

Clark County Fire Department spokesman Scott Allison said all 48 people on board the jet got off safely and without injury after the incident, which happened about 4:20 p.m.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the Canada Air Challenger CL60 was en route to Ontario, Calif., when it diverted to Las Vegas because of the engine trouble.

It was unclear what caused the engine trouble.
